Who else EDCs a fixedblade?

Why would you want it so hard? Aren't you concerned with constantly blowing out bits of the edge?

I thought about 61HRC was the upper range for D2 as a blade, someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Its small blade 65mm and the big difference between D2 cryo HT with modifications and regular HT D2
but this is definitely an exception to try ... just knowing the other results of this procedure do not believe it will be as you say.

I recently made these two little guys. One is mine for edc. They are 7 inches overall with a 3 inch blade and s35vn steel. So far its working great.

I really like that Enyo. I am considering a neck knife. Did it come sharp?

It did come very sharp. I have 6 spartans and they have all been very sharp. That said, the ones with the low flat grind (enyo and NYX) needed have the edge bevel taken up and thinned out to be effective EDC knives. As they come they would be great for combating Sentries or opening MREs as that is what they were designed for but for daily cutting I wanted a more acute edge with less behind the edge. You can see in the picture how high I took the bevel.

Here is the NYX. It has a similar low primary grind so while it is flat ground, it stays thick all the way up to the edge bevel:

Family photo though I have added Phrike and a Pallas. You can see the higher grinds on the other two blades:

Also, I am not a huge neck knife guy. The Enyo seems quite heavy to have it dangling around your neck, at least that is how I felt. It is very thick for a knife this size Same thickness as the larger sized spartans which makes it tough as hell). Much better IWB or OWB.

When I do EDC a fixed blade it is usually my Perrin Street Beat or Silent Soldier Regular or Ranger. My La Griffe and Le Shark get carried sometimes too, excellent SD blades. Thing about the Street Beat, the sheath seems to dull the blade alot :grumpy:

Sometimes it is my Enyo IWB, or if I feel particularly ornery my Spyderco Reverse set up for pikal grip.

will be making me own fixed blades, shortly. Stock removal! I will be purchasing some 1095 as soon as I can, and I have a source for heat treats already

I kind of like this one right now. I just might make another sheath for it, with a square shape to carry better in pocket. A mini-bowie :) Almost thinking of getting also one with phenolic handle to modify for a non slip grip, sanding or covering the handle with rubber.

I wonder if there are other knives like this in the market, with a bowie-shape blade, about same lenght overall but with sturdier blade, full flat grind? Spyderco Street Beat is one that I remember.
