Who else EDCs a fixedblade?

I don't get weird looks... All my carry knives are more than 10" overall.

I carry this one in the woods and camping and working around the place on weekends. I keep a multitool in the pouch. Mighty handy.

I have carried this short Kabar some, had a sheath made that is more suitable for me, haven't used it much yet.

Well, I made thru the ENTIRE thread. All 106 pages of it and while I saw many knives I was wondering if people ACTUALLY went EDC with, (many of you have some beautiful blades btw) there are still a few that I'm pretty sure I never saw listed here and was wondering if people went EDC w/ as well. I would post my own photos but, I don't have a digital camera and I'm leery of posting pics online anyways. So, I was wondering if some braver like-minded soul might be kind enough to accommodate me.

I was wondering if anyone EDC'd and had pics of the following...

1. KA-BAR Dog's Head full size fighting / utility

2. KA-BAR 1250 Short (any variation)

3. Ontario 499 USAF Pilot Survival

4. High Quality Hollow Handles Survival Knife (any kind)

P.S. Also wondering if any of you get weird looks when EDCing knives of 10 inches OAL or more...thanks :D

SWEET!!! Nice mods on the knives and sheath on the KA-BAR too.

Is the sheath for the Ontario SP2 Spec Ops Combat Master?

Most people are too self absorbed to notice anyway.

If the average person saw CM on the steet the knife might be the last thing they would notice. And with the handle hanging down like that it wouldn't be readily recognized as a knife.

I was in line in a fast food restaurant about 20-25 years ago and the guy standing in line behind me had a Glock in a holster on his belt. He was dressed in jeans and an ordinary button shirt just like I was. Of the 15 or so people in line I don't think anybody else noticed the gun. I didn't see a badge but I wasn't going to study the guy up and down, then leaving the restaurant later I noticed the semi-unmarked police car in the parking lot.

Not exactly something that can be done with the current production sheath.

I don't understand what you mean. Can't be carried? It's slim and the sheath has excellent retention.I laced the paracord through the holes and carry it vertical or horizontal on the belt.

Well that can be done with the older style of sheath, since it has grommet holes all the way around. The current production has the holes only along the edge side of the sheath, so that limits its carry to vertical.

The best fixed blade EDC for me, is my newly acquired Tops ALRT XL01. I kid you not! Best one so far.

I can absolutely see that. Literally a small sharpened prybar. Seems very useful for a variety of tasks.

Thanks!^
Can you please post a pic, craytab?
And, you need to get one.

Sure. From Knifecenter:

Hope that is the right one.

Thanks, buddy!
I'm going to set my ALRT up ala Bud Nealy style. I have a piece of the mega Velcro and a small metal pocket clip. The Velcro adheres to the Kydex and the pocket clip, with a piece of Velcro on it, snap together. It's a great carry system and Tom Krein is now using it.

Ahh ok. Dang that sucks, I love the sheath on my older style Kobun because of the versatility. It can be carried a hundred different ways.

Yeah tell me about it. I got one right before the sheath change, and then several after the switch over. Only real way to wear the newer style is vertical, either tip up or tip down. Mine currently rides as a boot knife, although I've got another rigged up on paracord to ride under the arm.

Carry system can make a great fixed blade into a useless paper weight. Sounds like you have something that works for you which is the most important thing. For me finding the g-clip changed my EDC fixed blade life. I have 8 of them now on various sheaths to carry IWB back left hip opposite my pistol. Very comfortable and easy to use. Total game changer for me.

Absolutely, craytab! Can you post a pic of your set-up?
Take a look at Bud Nealy's MCS, Multi Carry System. The correct carry system is so important. Bud even said that a EDC knife that's too thick stays in the drawer.
I really like the metal sheath belt clip because you just clip and go and it's easy off too.
