I've been carrying fixed blades for a month or so now just for something different. I was carrying an ESEE JG3 but I picked up a TOPS BOB this past weekend for a significant discount and I've carried it all week. I really like it so far. Going to replace the included firestarter with a regular ferro rod.
I Googled it. That is a sweet looking piece.
Yeah thanks man, I think I'm really going to like it. The full name is "Fieldcraft by Brothers of Bushcraft" but that's a mouthful.
Seems pretty bombproof from the little bit I've got to use it. I did quite a bit of research before I bought it because TOPS seems to have a pretty deserved reputation for "flamboyant" designs and product names, although in my amateur opinion the two TOPS knives I own (the other is the Pathfinder School model) are both very well made and of a great quality. I stay away from their more radical knives. I like knives that are pretty basic in looks and function.
But I digressthe BOB may be a great knife and the perfect one for you. I'm still looking for a good four- or five-inch custom, but in the meantime I'll stick with my Izula and other three-inch neckers for now and go to my ESEE 6 when I need something of substance.
