Who flicks open their sebenza?

I just gently thumb flick, I never flick it out hard. I don't need to, I always carry two blades though. A beater like my Emerson horseman, benchmade mini grip, etc. Then my sebenza, havent had any problems with soft thumb flicks.

I thumb flick my Sebenza 25 every now and then, never had any issue with screws getting loose. I do get more joy out of it opening it nice and slow though.

I thumb flick all of my folders including my CRK's. Not always. Never wrist flick my knives.

I thumb flick my sebenzas everytime. Lockup has not changed.

Also I open my sebenza about 3-4 times a week when I get fish deliveries and need to cut Styrofoam or cardboard boxes.

I've wrist flicked it a few times, feared it flying out of my hand though so it only thumb flicks here.

Gecko45 taught me the importance and tactical advantage of the wrist flick so I train the movement constantly with ALL my knives regardless of what the stinkin' warranty says.
A good flick with as much strength and speed as your arm can muster is of course the fastest, most efficient, and surest retention opening method there is. It also lets people know, if done properly, that at one time you trained with gecko45 and are not to be approached without caution.

All the time with a thumb. I don't wrist flick any knives...the amount of stress it puts on the knife is simply incredible and any folder I have seen flicked hard with a wrist flick has had blade play...many only locked up partly and some even had stress fractures to the parts of the locking mechanism, the pivot joints, and even the handle/blade.

I look at wrist flicking a knife as the blade equivalent of spinning the wheel on a revolver as hard as physically possible and then slamming it shut.

I thumb flick them just enough that it's almost equal to the way one would open it the proper way, so it's a moot point for me:)

I will try sometimes but do not have that move down. I never have a need to get it open that quick. If it is a wounded pheasant I just let Zoee go find it and bring it back to me. :-)

I thumb flick mine all the time.I don't wrist flick it though,& I think that's what they're talking about regarding flicking.

I like to finger flick it open just soft enough so that you can hear the frame lock snick into place before the bank vault like click that it makes when fully locked. I have no play, no wobble and a perfectly centered blade with a 50% lock up when open and when you press the locking bar out to unlock it the blade will swing down with just gravity pulling on the blade.

They were not meant to wrist flick open a million times as hard as you can while bored and watching tv, an occasional flick ain't gonna get it but non stop obsessive flicking ain't gonna be good for it either.

Precisely. I don't think of "thumb flicking" as flicking at all. At least with my Sebenzas, the mechanical fit is such that it's just not possible to get much speed or energy into the opening unless you aggressively use your wrist.

When it comes to my Sebbies, I especially enjoy the smooth 'hydraulic' feel when opening the blade and that satisfying click when the lock engages (perfectly, every single time.) It doesn't take that much longer to open either, imo.

In fact, I see it as a sign of quality when I can open a knife slowly and have perfect engagement with the lock or backspring. To me, a folder that needs to be slammed open to get any sort of lock retention seems quite crude in comparison.

Anyhoo, that's just my 2¢... :)

I classify myself as a non flicker.
I love the smooth movement of the blade.

But to be honest, I can understand those who want a rapid knife opening.
That's why we have flippers :D

To the guys with the loose screws (haha) - what about one wrap of Teflon tape on the treads of the screw? Might just provide that little added friction to keep the screws from loosening. Just a thought. Ymmv.

I normally open smooth when I have time, thumb flick when in hurry, wrist flick when in emergency.
I never flick damascus Blade

Wrist flicking is for sissies. You need to body flick that sucker. Show it who the boss is.
