Who hartes wharncliffe as much as I do?

Now, you guys stop making fun of fracmeister for making a simple typo in "hartes". It's clear that he meant to write that he "hearts" wharncliffes, kinda like the old NY tourism slogan "I (heart) NY". Glad I could clear that up for you.

BTW I hearts my Winchester wharnie.

the only wharncliffe I (heart) :p  is the Microtech Kestrel!

otherwise, clipoint or drop point with or w/o recurve for me!

Ouch, I guess it was just me. I just arte my breakfast on a paper plarte after looking for another dark blue sock -- I had lost its marte. Had to rush to the office so I wouldn't be larte, we have to crarte up some dartes and get them out the garte. No need to tempt farte.

I can see that you all rarte Wharncliffe blades way on up there. I still think they look pretty goofy. As to performance? well I can't substantiarte any problems.

And I try to avoid typos whenever I can....

As a mechanic/millwright/fabricator Wharnsliffs are great for scrapin' gaskets making precice cuts in different materials.

I HAVE AN OLD A G Russel one hand knife that has a wharncliff excellent blade.

I don't hartes wharncliffes one bit. I carry a Kiwi daily and I feel that it is an excellent utility design. Feels and carries just like a straight razor with a needle sharp tip.

Matt, ya just reminded me, my last knife purchased was a wharnie a Kiwi as a matter of fact. It's a wonderful knife with a great design.

I must be one of the few people here that took no notice of Frac's error. I actually appreciate "Creative Spelling". ;)

Actually by pointing out that you didn't mention it, you mentioned it:) LOL. I thought hartes= good/like , so I was confused. I actually LOVE wharnecliffe blades. At school I fluncked creatived spelding 101. I might need a translator next time.:D :D :D

Don't be a harter, be a playa!

(ugh, I've really sunk to new depths this time...)

Wharcliffe blades rock!

Wharncliffes are great, especially for delicate chores. It's quite difficult to design 'em with an acute, yet durable tip though.

In my younger days I was a rigger on heavy construction projects. My choice of a work knife? Buck Yachtman, the sheepfoot blades cut rope, slashed visqueen, opened boxes and 1000's of other tasks for years. The sheepfoot/wharncliffe is a fine utility blade.

I still have the knife.

I just received a Phil Boguszewski "Pirhana" which has a wharencliffe blade, and it is a beaut. It is a flipper like his other models, and had him put maroon scales on it. Ordered it just after the BAKCA Show last September, and got it this last Thursday. Long wait but worth it. He makes some of the smoothest, and finest customs I know.
This style of blade is very versatile for many utility things to be cut, and wanted a well made custom for this purpose for carry, and feel I picked one of the best knifemakers to make me one for this reason.

The wharncliff is a neat utility blade. Interestingly, Murray Carter, MS told me that he thinks it is the most useful utility blade shape. Yes, I bought my first wharney from him and agree about the blade shape is good for many chores.

I like blades with a belly too, recurves, hawkbills, and the tanto shape. There is no one "best" blade geometry for me. This is why I have so much cutlery:)

Why does anybody hate Wharncliffe?
What did he ever do to you?
I've got no beef with him.
Are you "Wharncliffe haters" a bunch of trolls or something ?
Good luck to Wharncliffe, coming up with that unique blade shape. It's usefull and distinctive. More power to him. The knife industry needs more innovative people like Wharncliffe, and fewer haters of resourcefull knife designers. I have one Wharncliffe right now, a Browning folder, but I sure intend to buy more.
I sure hope Wharncliffe has a good patent or trademark on his design, just as Spyderco has a trademark on it's round thumbhole.
Hurrumph!

IMO i love the wharncliffe
it looks great, it cuts great, and it sharpens great.
it probably serves better for smaller knives though since it cuts best when the blade is "drawn", so it'd be great for cutting on flat surfaces

ps, so it was a typo! give the guy a break! so much harte on this thread! :D sorry, couldn't resist

But who lorves them?
Lots of you. And I can see why. Ugly but extremely functional. I have always favoured knives with little belly and a straight blade, namely the Delica.
I suppose the Wharncliffe just takes it to the extreme. I dont own one but I can imagine it to be a great utility blade.

Fracmeister,

Try using one for a while. You may still hate the looks, but you might enjoy its cutting goodness. One of my buddies thinks they're ugly as sin, but he enjoys using them.
