Have you ever wanted to try a high hardness carbon steel blade? If you haven't been able to try it, why not? Lack of funds? More interested in stainless steels?

I haven't. Well, outside of the kitchen. I'd kind of like to try one, but I have no particular need for it. My folders do the heavy cutting, fixed blades are for camping and playing about in the woods. If I had the opportunity to use my fixed blades harder and for more I might pick one up, until then probably not.

Unfortunately, You will find high hardness carbon steel only in custom world...

Expert custom maker who specialize working on carbon steel like Adam DesRosiers always done his O1, W2, 52100 or even his handmade Damascus at over 62HRC, and I'm talking about chopper type blade...

3 days ago he just show his chopper made of CruForgeV at 63HRC!!

I have two 01 fixed blades by MLL. Great knives.
my busse, I'm unsure if high carbon or not, same goes for my kukri.

all of my kitchen knives are carbon.

I haven't tried anything over 60-61 hrc in and both steels were s110v or O1.

I would love to try more steels that are stable at higher hardness levels, but due to funds (or lack thereof), I haven't been able to do so.

I haven't had carbon steel above the mid 50s hrc on my esee. I lack funds to buy customs like others have mentioned and I am unaware of production knives with high hrc ratings and carbon steel. Although I don't pay much attention to the knives I can't afford so that may be it but if let me know of any you know of I will at least look at them and hopefully buy one.

Nothing received, I sent you a visitor message.

Snowboarder: you would be surprised at what you can get for $100 in the world of customs. Check your visitor messages as well.

I believe the hardest carbon steel I own is likely a Mora (58-60rc IIRC). With the hardest steel I've got in my house being my VG10 gyoto (Tojiro DP), which I think is around 61rc (could be way off on that though).

Would I be interested in trying one... yes, although I'm not "too" worried about it. The 1095cv on my Beckers holds an edge long enough for me, and I know they're ~56-58, and I do appreciate the quick touch ups that they offer. So yeah, I'd try one, but I'm not really interested in paying much more for it, as so far what I've used has met my needs pretty well.

And personally I don't have much interest in most stainless steels. Nothing against them, but they seem to be primarily featured in higher end folders, which I'm not interested in as a segment of the knife market.

For a financially accessible high hardness carbon, (1095 at HRC 64-66), there is always the Roselli UHC lineup.

Definitely not stainless, (unsure if it's what would be considered high carbon) but I've got a knife in M4 at 64.

Haven't pushed it too hard, used it for cleaning a wild turkey including joint separation, various kitchen duties, notched out/feathered/processed various species of harder seasoned wood (oak, hickory, black locust) and haven't experienced any perceivable chipping or rolling.

Been happy as a clam with it. Granted, it was pricey, but to me it was worth being able to pick the steel, blade shape/length, and handle material.

HwangJino, I have a question for you. You don't have emails activated.

I have a 1095 fixed blade from Joe Calton's I think he said he took it to 61-62rc. It's still the knife I have achieved my farthest push cut with. I also like the performance of it.
