Who here EDCs a HEST?

I don't want to hijack this thread, but if the HEST is your EDC, do you use a sheath other than what came with the knife? Pics of these?

I carried mine in the stock sheath, using MALICE clips, on my belt, under a t-shirt, all week, and I only have a 31-inch waist.

It can work fine. Has worked fine for me. People only see what they want to see, or are looking for.

+1 on stock sheath and molle clips.
I was going to use the mini-tec loc that I used to waist carry the Izula all last year...but the molle clips work fine for me. (bigger waist though)

Without fail, every day. It might be my favorite knife in existence :D The bottle opener, well... opens bottles, and the prybar gets use cracking soda can lids and mostly as a flathead screwdriver. Both serve alternative purposes, however-the prybar makes for a nice bottom guard and the bottle opener provides excuse for a very practical and well placed thumb ramp.

Carry it every day. Some days the prybar gets more use than the blade.
The wire break doesn't get used as much, but I have used it a few times. It strips wire pretty well in a pinch.

here's a shot of what the HEST looks like naked and then wrapped. VERY low profile and flat against the belt with the stock sheath and the molle clips.

I have been useing my HEST as my EDC since march this year, and i use all of the impliments as i need to. I use the prybar as a prying tool, as a slotted screwdriver, an impact point/striking surface, scraping tool etc. I used the wire break a few times, its a good lashing point if you are useing wire to tie the HEST to something..I even found a way to make an improvised oil filter wrench out of the prybar and some paracord.

I also found a very cool use for the bottle opener..so here is an eye opener for all you critics saying its a useless feature. To each his own though:rolleyes:

I found that the bottle opener fits perfectly on the brass stud of a gate valve, so i opened and shut the valve successfully. cool little feature.

.

you wont regret having a H.E.S.T. as your EDC.

Ya know those frozen hamburger patty stacks you get at Costco ? Cooked at a church picnic last night and used the HEST prybar for separating the frozen patties. Who knew ? Sure stopped all the "why do you carry that knife?" questions. :D

sheath made by shotty.
the hest is carried in a bag everyday. when hiking/camping etc, it is my go to knife. attached to shoulder strap of pack with cord. love this knife!

Thanks, Tomso! I like the handles, just tried it to get more "wear time" in my dark suits with the black paracord during the weekdays
...and it turned out I really like the feel - almost "izula like" (to me).

who knows, I may get the scales back on eventually...I have a AH-1 ordered...saw where if you dremel it a bit it will fit inside the HEST...so maybe I'll switch back one day.

So for you guys that switched your scales, did you flip them bottom to top, or end to end?

Meaning, is the slanted end of the scales still on the same end of the knife-handle, with the slant now oriented the opposite angle? Or is the slant now on the butt-end of the handle?
