Who Here Fishes?

Great pictures here! I still have 3 feet of snow in my backyard but it shouldn't be much longer till the waters open up.
Here's one more I hope we can all appreciate and get us motivated for a great summer of fishing!

My brother got me into Steelhead fishing back in the 90s,but the state closed our favorite stretch of river so I got back into hunting & haven't fished much since.
I did catch a nice bass at a lake in northwest Montana a few years ago though.
I went out there for Memorial Day weekend to see my sister & her old man and they took me up to a lake they like to fish.
While they were out in the little john boat catching perch,I decided to try my luck from the bank & threw a little trout spinner out & the bass jumped on it.It was only a pound or so,but it was the biggest fish caught that weekend.:)
They caught a mess of perch & we had a nice fish fry for the weekend.

I keep telling myself I need to go catch some trout, but after steelheading everything else pales in comparison.

This is me. I live in Western Washington but the good quality fishing is mostly in Eastern Washington. Hardly worth the effort on our side, too many people.
I usually don't keep Bass on our side, leave them for someone else to catch. I eat a few from our favorite lake on the East side.
Nothing compares to Steelhead fishing, they are in a league all their own.
I like fishing off a nice dock anymore, have a good boat but still prefer to just sit on a dock at our favorite lake where the fish are big and plentiful.

I always start off the seasons pretty intense after some big fish but I always end up content with just getting out on the water. That's when I am truly relaxed, when everywhere you look all you can do is appreciate the natural beauty of the world without a single manmade object in sight. A good number of fish are caught when fishing is the last thing on my mind.
Steelhead are great fish, you guys should try some musky, pike and lake trout fishing, that will give you a rush! But I'm sure there's a couple more fishermen out here that will agree nothing beats just getting out on the water. Like they say, a bad day fishing beats a good day at work.

amen brother.

I like to go but I haven't been in a couple of years. I use to go trout fishing several times a week during the spring and summer. I'm hoping to go some this year.

Living on a Salmon/Steelhead river 3 miles from the Pacific, yeah, I fish. When I'm home at least.:(
I will be a fishing fool when I get off the road. If you want me, check the river.:D

John, you wanna go fishin' again just say and we will go! You have some exceptional bass ponds within 5 miles of your place, and I still can catch 'em in the Kankakee River, my canoe has two seats! Water real high yesterday with white caps from the west wind, wife & I caught nothing in a small catfish tourney and burned up my old 7.5 Evinrude. Test ran the older 1960 5.5HP Johnson today on Wolf Lake and it purred right along. Didn't we catch some nice crappies the last time we went out....like 30 years ago!

The lake we go to for a couple weeks each summer has trout, musky, and bass. Your right, it's a rush. Nice to come into the resort with trout and bass in the same trip.

Your absolutely spot on though, just being there makes is winner. I felt the same way hunting back in my hunting days. Never cared about success, I just enjoyed walking around in the woods with a purpose. Just hiking to hike never appealed to me. Give me a rifle and a mission and I'll walk and walk and walk, back when I could that is.

Spent many happy hours on Palmer lake, Wannicut, Spectacle, lots of good lakes in that area. None hold a candle to Curlew though. All good though.

This is one of my favorite fishing pics.......from the Sylvania Wilderness in Michigan

While it may sound like a fish story, we caught at least 70 or more Smallmouth in this spot between 4 boats. There was a period of at least a half hour where ever cast seemed to result in a fish.......great times!

I like Wannacut the best. I have a friend that has taken me out in his boat so we don't have to hike to the fishing hole, althought it is worth the hike! Spectacle isn't bad either. Palmer you have to have a friend with a boat that knows where to go or be willing to do some serious hiking. Sidley Lake can also be a lot of fun. Never fished Curlew or Bonaparte though.

Forgot to add earlier - John - the box of goodies had two "cane pole kits" in it. Maybe I should send you one!

A boats handy at Curlew but off the dock at Tiffany's Resort is very good too. Much larger fish generally.

My last trip to Wannacut the fish were larger than years ago too. Nice ones. The nice thing about Wannacut is all the epsom salt, the fish stay firm all summer long. Spectacle and Palmer when it warms up the fish get pretty mushy.

Bass and Musky now in Curlew too.
