Who here has knives that they will never use?

I have knifes that I bought as a investment. I have a Schrade that I got told it is about 40 years old. brand new in the box. I have had it for about 13 years. I also have a bunch of case knifes that are limited edition knifes. I have a Swiss army key chain knife with the marbro name on it with a light on it.
 
I use all mine except my NMFBM LE and CGFBM that came back from the SPA.

I do have a BWM that I don't use also.
 
I have like 12 blades and I use about 1/2 of them. the rest im saving just in case:

1. I want fresh infi when the world ends.
and
2. I want to pass some fresh ones down to my kid as well

Yep, I don't care what people do with their own money or knives. I use my knives but am glad that some don't actually. I can buy a like new, or new Busse released years earlier and put the hurt on it for the first time myself. If everyone used them, I wouldn't get to break em in for the first time myself. I like getting them in unused condition because I don't have to worry about prior abuse and potential issues down the road. We all fill a niche. I like where I fit in :D
 
I have a very large Schrade collection , about 600 knives or so, i dont use them, i display them at a couple knife shows every year. I have about 50 Busse's and use about half of those,My SHSHII and BBSHSH and my L E knives i'm saving for my Grandson, he's 8 and already digs the Busse,s.
 
I have a couple that haven't been used... yet! All my knives are users at heart.

When I win the lottery though, I'll buy some 'safe queens', just so that I have spares in case I ever lose or break :eek: a user.

Seriously, I do understand people viewing knives as collectibles and would love to be able to buy several of each and display them myself. Funny though - I get more pleasure out of seeing a used blade on display than a pristine one. I see the values in both art and functionality.

Anyway, I love collectors, because they occasionally sell something that's old and rare but in new condition. Then someone like me but with more money can buy it and beat it up :D
 
I've only got two Busses and they're pretty much "just in case".
I've cut some paper and cardboard, but that's it. Got an Estwing axe in the trunk of the car I haven't much use for, ...until I need it. Old boy scout, what can I say.

My designated users are a D2 RAT-7, the old 2005 collectors version, and an old Spyderco Endura3. They both just fit my hand real well, but they're not real heavyweights if things go south big time.

It would be more like having those vehicles and never taking them out of the Garage.

I have never understood the practice of showing knives one has never used.

But I would never tell someone how to spend his /her $$$
 
knives are Property of owners ,only the owner of knife can make the decision of what knid of work involve in . right ?
safe queen and user , both cool.
 
It doesn't matter if we use them all or keep some in the safe because they are just too darn fine. We're all users, both at heart and in real life -- or we wouldn't appreciate these sharp, tough, beautiful, efficient cutters like we do. No regrets, either way.

LOL, seriously, I buy both knives to use and knives to display or admire...not that they can't or won't be used, just I tend to keep using the same knives over and over, and some have not made it into the rotation.

A few examples are a heavly used plumb bolo, modified by my Uncle when he was in the war, to a fine fighter. It will never see use again, unless me or mine get involved in combat.

I also have regular hunting knives for each of my different hunting tyoes, and also some "dress" hunting knives, that may or may not get used.

but most get sold if they do not get used in a year or two.

another way I get knives I will never use is in trade. I carry a sebenza for a folder, and when i get folders in trade I may carry them to try them out, but always end up getting rid of them and using the sebenza
