Who here has knives that they will never use?

All my Busse are users except my Force One. Its just too damn cool, and honestly, what would I do with a giant Tanto blade. I even use my Ruck every once in a while. It is nice though to be able to find a pristine knife from some collector that is no longer available.

What aggravates me though is the idea that some barely used knife with slight smoothing is worth sooo much less in peoples eyes. Busse knives are designed to take incredible abuse, but the second you tell someone you sliced some sapling with it, they want to low ball you.

That's why I'll never use my Force One. I imagine one day it will fetch a pretty penny, but I wont get raped on the price because I disclosed that I cut a fart with it once upon a time.

Ummmm. Rock... That FO is in your will, to ME... remember??
:thumbup::yawn::D

You damn stalker!!! Do you have some "Force One" filter alert on your computer? I knew you'd chime in. By the way, its still pristine. No sheath, no scratches... nothing.

So far, the only "used" ones I own came that way from the secondary market (and my Arctic White SHBM, which fell out of my bag while walking to the car at Knob Creek, and the coating got chipped by gravel). I carried a Swamp warden at work for a few weeks, then was told that someone had complained I was carrying a "weapon", so I had to leave it at work. Since all it cut was Mylar coffee bags, I don't really consider it used. Other than that, all my knives are for collecting -- many are still wrapped in the paper they came in.

I just don't get it. I can understand the collectible side, but these are knives. They are made to cut stuff! The first scratch is the hardest, go use them!:D

I just hate seeing stacks of amazing blades that'll never see more than paper:(

I think most knives are made to cut stuff. Some people collect them anyway.

Busse's are hard core made to be used knives we all know that around here. I'd say why not have a few user's and a few collectors. But its still up to the person buying them. Use them if you want or don't use them, this is America where we still have a choice. ;)

Im a user and an abuser...but you can appreciate knives in many ways...for me its out in the wilderness, and for some its art. Dont hate, just love em how you love em.

One can only actually use X number of knives, you know? But that does not mean that when a groovy new Busse or Spydie or whatever is released, that we aren't going to buy it.

I could get by just fine on 2 or 3 or 6 knives, but that doesn't mean that that I'm not going to buy more than 2 or 3 or 6. And nothing that I have is what I would call a safe queen. Some just don't get used because there are only so many things in this world that need cutting.

I really enjoy collecting INFI, thus most of my knives are in pristine condition with just a few being used for camping and hiking.

That's a very valid piont ....... and one we often overlook ....

For me I have a lot of knives in a "quest" if you will ..... to try and find what works best for me .... but when you have to pack your kit up to go out the door..... there are only so many knives you will take with you .... granted for different parts of the world you may need different choices .... but I agree that you can or should be able to narrow down your users to 3 or 4 and up to say 6 if you are catering for different worldwide conditions or activities which have a special need requirement ....

The rest are either "used" to find out what works best .... or are "collectables" or are waiting to be sold when you have made your mind up ....

That's right. We have folks who are collectors and others who are users, and many who fall into both camps. We don't judge our fellow Bussekin, we're all here because we like the knives and the people.

Although I'm a noob to Bladeforums,I'm goin ta have ta +1 this one. I for one am thankful for the collectors... Whether tomorrow or 10 years from now,my son or I need/want a specific Bussekin, they will be around;New,untouched, and ready for some action.....;)

I have a very large Schrade collection , about 600 knives or so, i dont use them, i display them at a couple knife shows every year. I have about 50 Busse's and use about half of those,My SHSHII and BBSHSH and my L E knives i'm saving for my Grandson, he's 8 and already digs the Busse,s.

I can thank my Granfathers for my addiction to knives, God Bless fore looking out for the Little Guy!

Thanks Bill!!!
Me, I have collectors, users and abusers. I sometimes tend to think of a great knife just like when I was in Holland back in June of 77 looking at Rembrandts "Night Watch". Jerry Busse has made some of those pieces of art IMHO. Some of the blades I purely love to fondle and WOULD use in the event of necessity. But until that time I can fondle them and have a feeling of contentment and satifaction that it's MINE... That's why I like what Lunde says or I should say his father. "Words to live by: Make life simple, get both! (coined by Vernon Lunde, my beloved father)" or something like that. One to use and one to fondle. Drooling can be a good thing:eek::D.
