Who is NOT ordering a TGLBS?

..and why?

When it comes to Busse's it seems like everyone, or close to everyone, orders at least one of each. Let's hear from those who are not ordering this knife as to why they are not pulling the trigger.

Is it because they are waiting for another knife in specific? Tapped out? Something(s) you don't care for in the TGLBS's design? Something else?

Please share your thoughts.

Thanks :)

Me. I like the look of the full convex grind of the original TG. A lot of people are saying the concave grind on the LB version will still be fine performance-wise... OK, I trust them, but I still like the convex look. Maybe I'll get a custom one some time in the future with the LB-treated tang but have a convex grind on the blade. I wanted to get a regular TG first before committing to the LBTG, but I think they are out of TG blanks so everything TG-related is on hold for me. Maybe I'll find something nice at Blade, too.

I swear, it's taking every ounce of my strength to hold back from buying anything on the For Sale forums and to wait for Blade.

Same here uyotg. I want to come home with a LOT of INFI from Blade. It is definitely hard to stop spending the money in my knife fund.

I've got the original. I like the convex grind and heavy package. Balance is good and it's not THAT heavy. I think I'd like to pick up a satin variant (or LE ?) instead of another coated TG. Also want to pick up the SARGE-7 SE and the BASIC-8 when they come out too.

edit: Well awhile later, I've got the Sarge7, a black and black G10 TGLB, and a CF TGLB on order. They're pretty good knives. No Regrets.

I have no use for a knife with a double guard. Great looking design, just not for me. In order for me to own a knife I'll never use, it has to be phenomenal looking... like a Force 1 or the Argonne Assault.

Valid question: Everyone will have their own reasons for buying Busse or not buying and its great that we have such options and opportunities. Busse is continually putting out some serious steel. As far as the TG goes I have lots of reasons that I am not participating. That size range scratches no itch for me. Busse makes many different knives that excel in their category of use but these mid range 6-8" knives dont fill any void for me. Oh yeah, its cool but: It is not big enough to be a dedicated chopper, not small enough to be EDC, not ideal for food prep or skinning game, illegal to carry in the particular state I live in due to the lenght of the blade, and all around just is not great at anything that I can think of. On a second note, I have been around these forums for several years and participated in the "buying of whatever comes out" mode but have changed directions. Phases and stages as "Willie" wrote. I have had sets of tiger/satin, black paper/satin, etc: It can easily get to be an out of hand obsession for something to score and collect. I have found myself refreshing the screen into the wee hours of the morning or waiting for the go post to get a new offering on more than one occasion. Many of you know what I am talking about..... These days I am trying to thin the herd down to knives that I feel I can and will use and getting outdoors more to have that opportunity. Having a safe full of expensive knives is great for those who want to but I have moved away from that. If I am not going to use it, I really don't want it. A handfull of well chosen Busse knives will handle any tasks you want to throw at them and last more than one lifetime. In fact I think it would be great to be able to choose 3 or 4 to cover the range of various tasks and be satisfied with them Now if I can get Jerry to quit making new models or quit surfing these forums, I am there...........................

I'm not ordering one mostly because of budget. It wouldn't get used by me either. I have several users in the same size range from Busse that won't be replaced by the TG. I'm glad that I don't want every knife they release because I can't afford that many Busses. :foot:

The only way I wont be getting this one is if I don't have the money for it by the time Busse stops making them. I've been wanting an original TG for awhile but cannot justify $500 + for one atm and though the TGLB is a little different than the original, it's a good price considering Busse's reputation and warranty. Plus the TG (original and Light Brigade) is just damn sexy and it don't hurt that TV's greatest zombie ass kicker has one.

I am not because I have no use for that particular knife. I like having a wide variety of knives to use and abuse, but I just wouldn't use it. Due to budget issues (trying to be able to afford all of my hobbies and put a new roof on my house this year), I am not purchasing anything that wont get used.

Mostly due to the guard, partially due to the hollow grind.

NOT for me!!!
-I have no use for a knife with a double guard
-NOT interested in any LB
-Hilt is to short for my hand even if it didn't have a Dble guard.

Hands that big? I bet you could win in a slap fight with a bear :p:D

That is very well said. I haven't been into this obsession very long, but I have recently decided that I'd rather get exactly what I want and will use instead of buying everything and hoarding it. Compared to many on this forum, my collection is small, but I have more knives than I'd ever use or need.

On the other hand, I'm still learning what I like in a knife, so getting a blade like the TG that I'm not sure about makes sense for me. For some reason I skipped out on the Basic 4 LE when they were offered because I wasn't sure I'd like it being that the War Dog didn't do it for me. Boy was I wrong!! I inevitably got one and it may be just be my favorite small blade right now. I am sure in the future I will reach a point where I have the blades that I want and I will spend less time cruising the exchange and selling blades that don't see any use.

Same here.

Just out of curiosity, what does the double guard get in the way of? And is that really specific to the double guard, or do you only mean the rear guard? With my limited experience, I can only think of one or two things the front guard would bother me with, but it's present on almost all Busses, so eh :p you make do. Can't think of anything bad about the rear guard though for my uses.

I'm in the same boat with Russ and Ken. The double guard prevents me from choking up on the blade and using the choil. Interesting that the TG has a useable choil... but a double guard that prevents one from using it. Someone on BF ground the top guard off his TG... looked very cool and more user friendly.

It's a cool looking knife but it won't handle any task better than my NMSFNO or SJTAC or any number of other knives I own.

Plus...

I'm waiting on the Light Brigade NMFSH!!!! (or is it a LBHHFSH???)

BRING IT JERRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, thanks for clearing that up. It wasn't obvious to me because, to me, choking up on the knife is just putting my index finger in the choil.

How I "choke up" on a knife, which doesn't cause any problems with a rear guard:

I don't move my whole grip up for these two reasons:
If I do, my thumb gets too close to the edge

If I move my thumb out of the way and lay it along the spine, it's an uncomfortable stretch. Most of my Busses are wide enough that this stretch isn't comfortable, but narrow enough that if if put my thumb down, I get problem #1.

Would've demoed on a TG but I don't have mine right now :o

While I agree that the dual guard would get in the way of several grips that I use to do more delicate tasks with a larger blade, I still like the idea of it for killing zombies. Isn't that the purpose of the TG? I can say without a doubt that I would carry a TG in a combat situation, especially one involving zombies.
