Who is NOT ordering a TGLBS?

I like the look of the knife and the walking dead factor is kind of cool. It doesn't do anything that my Sarquatches and NMSNFO can't do. I also am curious as to the whole concave grind thing. I would have much preferred a zero edge on a thinner blade stock. I love my Boss Jacks but they don't cut for crap. They have a very sharp edge and horrendous geometry. Maybe the concave will address that. I want to hear from some users first or I won't pull the trigger. Buying for cool factor isn't my thing.

I'm not ordering one because I'm still waiting on the NMFSH:thumbup:

I am still on the fence about this one for a number of reasons. The Basic 6 LE I already own, is as close to ideal (for me) in this size category. The second "neh" reason is that hollow grind. I just prefer convex edges for my knives. The only reason I havent totally decided yet is because that is one of the best looking knives I have ever seen! Jerry really has me thinking hard about this one. The price is also very good for a piece of INFI that has all this machining time going into it. I hope I can decide before its too late.

I don't see an issue with choking up on the choil with the double guard there. Some have said their thumb rests beside the top guard with no problem. I have found thumb over the top guard woks perfectly - it doesn't stick up far enough to dig into the hand and it is well rounded.

^^^^^^^^ Good pic Westfork. Thanks. Maybe I am wrong about the guard being in the way...

Great looking dog there, too... looks like you are interrupting his nap time. My dog gives me that look all the time... :D

I figured he would make a good backdrop for the picture :)
The top guard absolutely is not in the way for my grip as the pic shows my "natural" choked up grip. For someone with small hands I could see it as a potential issue. I just had my wife try it and her thumb rests beside the top guard - doesn't look as comfortable though.

Im not, simply because i dont feel the need for it, amongst the busse's I already have

Just out of curiosity, what does the double guard get in the way of? And is that really specific to the double guard, or do you only mean the rear guard? With my limited experience, I can only think of one or two things the front guard would bother me with, but it's present on almost all Busses, so eh :p you make do. Can't think of anything bad about the rear guard though for my uses.

RussMo said he has no use for a double guard, and I agreed. Didn't say it got in the way, though I find they do.
When someone is referring to a double guard they are talking about an upper and lower front guard, not the pommel.
And yes, both of us know there is a bottom guard on most all Busse's:p

The reason I don't need a double guard is I don't like (or buy) fighting style knives. If the SHTF that bad I'm going for my gun:p
GA also passed a law a few years ago making any knife made for offensive, or defensive purposes illegal to carry. I never liked double guards, recurves, double edge's, etc..., so the new law doesn't affect me.

Oops, I got my terminology wrong. You're right, I meant the upper guard, not rear guard.

got too many in that size range, unlikely i would like the shape of the handle (scales particularly), not a fan of hollow grinds, and prefer taller blades

I'm not buying one because I'm on a budget and much more desirable knives are coming soon (hopefully). I'm specifically thinking of the NMFSH and NMLBSHBM.

I'm holding off for now... mostly because I like the heft & balance of the original and I'm saving the extra $$$ for the NMSHBM
Plus I'm hesitant for anything in the LB, including the NMSHBM.

The only thing that may break my resolve is if I hear an off-the-wall great review from brother Cricket Dave. I know he loves his original formula TG as much as I do mine, so if he give the LB major props... MAYBE

westfork: the dog does not look impressed:yawn:
I have not ordered one yet. I think i will, though. Black and tan, tan and black.:)

Yeah, its a tough one. With so many different knives coming in lately-I'm banking on the fact that this is the new boss jack for the store and will be available for some time. I have the ganza one and dont quite know if the LB is going to be that much better. I will end up ordering one though at some point just so I can get either pumpkin or black/tan G10.

I just finally got my credit card cleared off today and I still have one comming from the custom shop , so I had to pass . I just can't afford to get them all :(

....................................................
HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

I'm in the same boat with Russ and Ken. The double guard prevents me from choking up on the blade and using the choil. Interesting that the TG has a useable choil... but a double guard that prevents one from using it. Someone on BF ground the top guard off his TG... looked very cool and more user friendly.

It's a cool looking knife but it won't handle any task better than my NMSFNO or SJTAC or any number of other knives I own.

Plus...

I'm waiting on the Light Brigade NMFSH!!!! (or is it a LBHHFSH???)

BRING IT JERRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BINGO!!! Thanks Kevin  I'm back out at the plant and can't get to a puter very often.

Way to go Ken, man this is great I'm not having to say anything. Just kidding, at work and can't play but once in a while. Ken you to are exactly saying what I was thinking, it's not the pommel it's the CROSSGUARD. I own fighting knives just for that reason like a Fairbairn-Sykes, 1942 forged blade, brass hilt & the Case V42 Fighting Knife. These are fine for the intended purpose but a knife the size of the TG I personally don't see the need. Man when I need to get to my blades and a camera I can't:(

Valid question: Everyone will have their own reasons for buying Busse or not buying and its great that we have such options and opportunities. Busse is continually putting out some serious steel. As far as the TG goes I have lots of reasons that I am not participating. That size range scratches no itch for me. Busse makes many different knives that excel in their category of use but these mid range 6-8" knives dont fill any void for me. Oh yeah, its cool but: It is not big enough to be a dedicated chopper, not small enough to be EDC, not ideal for food prep or skinning game, illegal to carry in the particular state I live in due to the lenght of the blade, and all around just is not great at anything that I can think of. On a second note, I have been around these forums for several years and participated in the "buying of whatever comes out" mode but have changed directions. Phases and stages as "Willie" wrote. I have had sets of tiger/satin, black paper/satin, etc: It can easily get to be an out of hand obsession for something to score and collect. I have found myself refreshing the screen into the wee hours of the morning or waiting for the go post to get a new offering on more than one occasion. Many of you know what I am talking about..... These days I am trying to thin the herd down to knives that I feel I can and will use and getting outdoors more to have that opportunity. Having a safe full of expensive knives is great for those who want to but I have moved away from that. If I am not going to use it, I really don't want it. A handfull of well chosen Busse knives will handle any tasks you want to throw at them and last more than one lifetime. In fact I think it would be great to be able to choose 3 or 4 to cover the range of various tasks and be satisfied with them Now if I can get Jerry to quit making new models or quit surfing these forums, I am there...........................

"Buying of whatever comes out"...yes, that is what I'm avoiding. I buy for utility and versatility. I might pick a nice looking combo but looks are a DISTANT second to the previous two that are tied for first.

I think the TGLBS does offer some utility. But that guard is nice to see but not something I'm thrilled about use-wise. I'd rather a thumb ramp or jimping there. Same thing for my BJ.

Thanks for the replies! :)
