He's selling the new 121 Guide Joe Houser Limited Edition that Buck sells for $225 for $199.
He sells it with a plain black sheath......not the usual oxblood or maroon 105 sheath that comes when you get it from Buck.
He sells other knives with flapover sheaths made by our own Makael (Looper) here........recognizable by the characteristic strange white stitching and plain snap.

So what is this Guide he's selling for $199 and where did he get it? Is it a Blem? It's not listed as a blem.

The Buck Website says black sheath, but that's wrong. The Buck website says only 50 made, but the "Letter" Buck sends says only 25 made. But here's "Craigs4721" selling them on e-Bay.
Fascinating questions. Us good Buck buyers are curious.

Buck got any answers?

Why don't you contact him and ask? I have bought from him and he is a great guy. I was thinking the same question about that knife. The amount of Buck knives he sell's I say he gets a nice special dealers discount, just a guess.

Craig is a good friend of mine. Alot of my knives come from his collection. If you look at his store you would see numerous items other than knives. He lists everything on Ebay. He is friends with quite a few Buck employees as well. He picks up quite a few knives from the 2 sales a year Buck has. He is similar to Eprague. There quite a few people who pick up knives from the Buck sales and from employees who clear their collections out. A lot of Buck employees have been there since the California days and have built up large collections. You can find them on Craigslist Spokane often.

Craig purchased one of the largest knife collections from an estate in Washington. Over 300,000 knives were in that estate. Quite a few were Bucks, Randalls, Ruana's, Westerns, K-Bar etc.

Estate sales, yard sales Auctions and swap meets is where a lot of his items come from.

I know there are quite a few blade forum members who have purchased unique knives from Craig.

Craig is a good guy and has worked hard to get his items from numerous places. I was at his house tonight delivering this sheath for the Buck Bowie he bought at the Buck sale in June

The knife your referring to was picked up at the Buck factory sale and is different than the one posted on the Buck limited edition
Give a thumbs up if you have purchased from Craig

I talked to Craig everyday, he buys alot of sheaths from me. I keep an eye on his ebay for items that are unusual or special not just Buck knives.

I maybe wrong in my thinking but I do not think it is appropriate to start a thread asking about a particular person or seller. It just opens the door to all kinds of trash talking and such by certain individuals. Hasn't this come up before?
I have bought from Craig as well as spoke to him by phone, emails, and texts. He is a great guy selling authentic products.
I personally give him a thumbs up but give this thread a thumbs down.
I don't think anyone should post anymore on this thread, lock the thread, and let it die.
Just my opinion.

Who is this VorpalRain guy anyway???

Nothing wrong with being cautious and asking such questions, as long as they are not done in a defamatory manner. It pays to be careful and VR obviously found out that this guy is legit.

Why is Makael's white stitching and plain snap strange? Looks great and perfectly normal to me.

It's unusual to see white stitching on brown leather.......that's what makes it easily attributed to him when combined with that plain Atchison throwback snap.

The question is answered. Buck apparently did one with aluminum bolsters by mistake and sold it off at a sale to get rid of it. Might be a good buy. Even if they made a few of them......there can't be many of those Idaho blades left.

I'm not sure who you are and what your motive is. I have purchased knives from him for over a year and have never found a single problem with them. When it's factory blemish he states that. I have communicated with him thru email for about the same amount of time, I call him a "Da*n Good Friend"!! He is one the most down to earth people you would want to ever talk to and some time I might get the honor of actually meeting him face to face. As far as Maekel's sheaths they are second to none, I have several brown sheaths with white stitching from several different knife companies. Somehow you found out these two guys are good friends and you decided you were going to be sour grapes and try and wreck the reputations of both men and one other thing if he wants to sell Buck Knives for 10 cents then that's his right too.

He has over 10k feedback. I'd say the majority of his customers are pretty happy with their transactions. And thank you for the positive comments on the sheaths. White stitching, Black stitching, snaps, studs, etc. They are all fun to build.

These snaps I purchased from Craig, they are heavier gauge than I can get from Tandy.. He gave me the tooling stamps to use as well. Probably over 30 stamps altogether. He has gave me leather, tools, etc in trade. I'm guessing he has a couple thousand different types of leather tools he lists now and again. I would not have nearly as much equipment without his help.

Collectibles, axes, hammers, Snap On tools, etc. Lots of products in all kinds of categories. But he loves USA made knives. He could literally fill a warehouse. Cars and trucks as well. He is an amazing guy at 62 years old with more energy than I could think of having, he bought some crap leather working tools from a gal who was in need of money. He bought them anyway because he felt sorry for her and her situation she was in. Genuine guy.

Here is my latest Ruana knife and sheath with the same stitching and snaps. Factory sheath.
My newest Ruana, love them too.

I love the Atchison throwback snaps. I have a lot of old Buck sheaths with them. Not so fond of the white stitches. I suppose you offer a choice of white or dark, blending stitching.

Not sure but isn't some stitching, white or otherwise darkened when it's waxed and or waterproofed after it's complete? Was just thinking that a lot of stitching was white to begin with, it's just changed in color based on the finishing process.
