I suspect that the leather is processed and finished before the stitching.

Otherwise all stitching would match the sheath (which would be fine with me).
:)

Well, I'm hoping it's one of a kind.
You just never know with Buck......they're always finding spare parts and cobbling things together.
:)

It looks better in silver than brass, nice score. Please share photo's when you have it in hand.

If he did have a store, it would be impressive! More like a store/museum!

I will. IF I had just been perceptive enough to notice that it was not brass in the first place--this thread would not have started and I would have just bought it immediately.
Instead, thinking it was an illicit clone of Joe's Limited Edition Guide--I was amazed and befuddled and a little suspicious of the listing.
:D
I checked the completed auctions and it's been for sale for a while. I don't know why nobody snapped it up sooner. I guess my taste is a bit different from most. Oh well.

I had it in my cart a dozen times...lol With the walnut and malachite, the aluminum works better than the brass IMHO. I just resisted because I'm digging the 118 and Yellow Jacket as my hunting knives. Love the Guide though.

Tell me though, is the blade as thick or thinner than the other 100 series; the 119 for example?

So I came that close to losing it, huh? :)
I doubt that it's as thick as the 119. It's probably about the same thickness as the 105.
The 121 Fisherman had a gradual morphing from a fillet knife with a scalloped tip for scaling to a hunting knife and the blade got thicker in several stages over many years. Never really worked out well as a fillet knife, but became a great hunting knife by the time this 2005 blade was done and was discontinued at about that time.
Your 118 is about the best hunting knife design that exists, so you're doing well.

Thanks. I was going to get it for boning but was concerned about the thickness and lack of flex. I use Victorinox knives for boning now. I like the thin, flexible blade, and the laser sharp flat ground blade just glides through everything. A couple of passes on the butcher's steel (ceramic actually) gets it back to work pretty quick.

I see WAY more that look like this.

White stitch or brown stitch, THAT is a beautiful sheath.
