I've been fishing since I was a little kid, roughly 40 years. Here in Oregon we have some great fishing, but I'm sure other states do as well.
I don't go as often as I use to, but still enjoy it. The best fishing trip I've ever had, was about 5 years ago, my best friend since grade school and I went to Alaska.
His Mom and Dad had a really nice resort with log cabins he had built, it sat on the bluff over looking the Cook Inlet.
It was nice because we didn't have to mess around with charter fishing, we would just take their boat down to the tractor launch at Anchor Point and fish until we were ready to go back.
We caught quite a few Halibut, the biggest was around 65 pounds, but I guess the smaller ones like that are the best eating. No argument from me, it was the best fish I had ever had. IIRC we each brought back close to 100 pounds of Halibut.
It was a sad day when we cooked the last pack of steaks
