Who makes best overall lineup of Knives?

MT and Spyderco but both fall short of perfection due to lack of fixed blades in their lineups.
(my rapidly devaluing 2 cents)

Folders:
Darrel Ralph!
Ken Onion!
Andre de Villiers!

Fixed:
Strider!
T.H.Rinaldi!

Microtech

CRKT will be up there in a few more years, maybe sooner.

I read a lot of complaints about Benchmade on this forum. I own 2 Benchmade folders. They are o.k. but not great.

Microtech, Chris Reeve Knives, TiNives, and Spyderco

SORRY I disagree with most. Cold Steel has the best line up. They make so many DIFFERENT types of lnives and they are always changing up on the types of knives. Many of the makers listed above only make mostly one type of knife. This is my humble opinion.

Microtech (higher priced) and CRKT (lower priced) When I received my Microtech LCC, I was absolutely amazed at the "out of the box" quality. Maybe I haven't handled enough customs to make an informed judgement, but I can't imagine how much better a custom could possibly be in terms of construction and finish.

I'm with the Grinch here. "Lineup" to me means covering a broad spectrum of knives, and most of the companies listed make only tactical-type folders. Excellent tactical folders, but not a broad "lineup". The only companies I can think of with a really broad lineup of useable knives, from utility folders to hunters to tactical folders to fixed blades, are Camillus and Schrade, maybe Kabar and Buck and Gerber. I vote for Gerber. I have the multiplier for utility, the zytel stockman, the old Magnum Hunter folder, LMF and BMF for fixed tactical. Not the best knives but the best knives over the widest range of types for one company. Buck would be 2nd, Camillus 3rd.

Now waitaminute. Spyderco makes kitchen knives, filet knives, money clip sized knives, a multitool, a sheepsfoot rescue blade, a fixed blade (with more on the way), and a multiblade in addition to tacticals. They also serve both the high end collector with higher priced custom collaborations and the lower end buyer with zytel handled lockbacks. And they do all of these things with excellent quality and value.

That's why my choice is Spyderco. IMNSHO, they have the best quality and value across the widest range of products.

Cold Steel.

They make just about any kind of knife you could want: folders, hunting/fishing knives, general utiltity knives, daggers, a bowie, kukris, swords, tomahawks, spears, etc.. They are all tough, take and hold a razor-sharp edge, and are reasonably priced. I can't think of anyone else that offers such a varied line-up with the same reputation for toughness and quality, and at a reasonable price. Cold Steel is one of the few companies whose products really do perform as well as advertised. JRF.

For affordable quality and an amazing variety I pick Victorinox. Large lock-blades, itty bitty pocket-knives, a full size multi-tool, a credit-card size tool, knives with all kinds of tools (that really work!), and even kitchen knives.
A really super company all the way.

Tons of great responses! My choices would be (and remember, we're talking about "quality" here):

- Spyderco
- Benchmade
- Chris Reeve
- Bob Dozier
- Jerry Busse

Just my $0.02... YMMV!

It does depend on how much you want to spend.

Chris Reeve Knives and Microtech

That covers folders, fix blades and autos.

For folding knives no question about this - Spyderco. They make knives for just about every purpose a folder could be used for and have been doing it with consistent quality and value for money. While admittedly not a big Spydie fan, I'm all for giving credit where its due.

Spyderco hands down; the most "caring" company as far as quality of product and satisfaction of customer needs (enormous range and value).
