Who makes the best serrations?

Hi guys, I'm really gonna break with the pack! I have cut a lot of cardboard and for that I have tried a lot of different blade styles and serrations and the best cutting one I have used is.....(believe it or not) the serrated blade on a Leatherman Super Tool. I don't know if they are using the same pattern today as this particular tool was one of the first ones out. Very smooth in the cardboard. Brian

Well, I have to admit that I have a personal preference for Spyderco knives in general, so it pleases me that the serrated knives are held in high esteem :D

To answer some of the subsequent questions raised in this post, I do not cut fibrous material on a daily basis. However, I do occasionally run across a cutting job that would be better served with a serrated knife than the small Sebbie that I carry every day. Sounds like I am probably in the market for a serrated Delica, or something of that size...

Thanks all for the opinions!

Spyderco's serration pattern is the best. A fully serrated Endura the user knife I carry everyday. It is also easy to bring the serrations back to scary sharp on a Sharpmaker.

Best? Microtech, Benchmade and Spyderco.
Worst? COLD STEEL! Not because of the pattern so much. Because not only can you not resparpen them, Cold Steel can't even resharpen them. So you are left with a dull ass knife for the rest of your life. And to make matters even worse I pitty the poor bastard who buys the all serrated version as the knife becomes FUBAR when the serrations where down. You then have a useless knife.

They are the most consistantly hair poppin razor sharp knives out of the box though.

There is absolutely no difference b/w my Delica and 710. Although I do realize Spyderco originated this pattern.

Having said that, I believe the 710 cuts a little better because the serrations are deeper and the M2 steel bites better.

Mike Turber:

Lansky now makes a ceramic stick that will fit inside the Cold Steel serrations. It costs $8. Have you seen this sharpener?

By the way, Benchmade won't sharpen their serrations either.

Best serration are on Spydercos with CPM 440V Blades. Serration pattern is not too agressive and is easier to sharpen than in other steels. Older spydercos with gin-1 blades have also a bit less agressive serrations.

bringing up an old thread to say spyderco are the best for production knives but i think david boye has them beat in the custom /semi-custom realm

Gotta say Spyderco. Aggressive & easily maintained. Evil/ugly sharp out of the box. I'm going to have to look into the ceramic stick for the CS serration pattern- my Vaquero needs some help.
BTW, Best Saw blade: Victorinox. Cuts PVC pipe like it owes money.

My Spyderco Delica has the full Spyderedge, and I have not yet encountered a fully serrated knife that can cut like it. It is the new version in VG-10 steel and is a breeze to sharpen and maintain.

I've used this knife almost to the point where USE becomes ABUSE, and it just keeps on cutting.:D

Best serrations? Spyderco.......everything else is just an imitation.;)
