i have for the last week and a half. i picked up a cheap one with no manufacturing marks that was reasonable well made (atleast i was fairly sure it wasn't going to hurt me or break with normal use) and used it all last week as my only pocket knife durring my visit to my inlaws in the chinese country side.
i opened plenty of packages (both tape and twine and by cutting the box or plastic), gutted a couple of large fish, peeled an apple and a few potatoes, cut some paracord to make new boot laces, pryed open a stuck jar, and cleaned out my fingernails.
the things i noticed is
1) it cut cord better than a regular blade
2) it opened packages more easily as well
3) if i was abusing the tip (prying open the jar) the force was keeping the blade open rather that possibly closing on my fingers (if the lock failed) like a regular knife.
4) it would have been impractical to slice things on a cutting board but you could do it, slicing free standing object was very easy though.
5) you can not chop anything on a flat surface
6) it's peeling ability is less than a regular knife but still usable.
7) it suprised me that for gutting the fish it worked better than the sharpfinger i used to do that sort of thing with.
8) it's a bit akward to clean your nails out with a karambit.
so it's not the ideal kitchen or steak knife but imo it handles typical edc stuff ok.
