Ok, I have been dreaming of this blade from the Becker KA-BAR camp ever since I discovered BK&T. So, I finally got off my ass and drew it out. This is NOT a mod to the 14/24 becuase that really cannot be done. This is the BK3 scaled down to the specs of the 14/24. It isn't perfect, and the dimensions and hole placement is off a bit, and....arg!! And I didn't complete a top view. And, damnit, I started free-handing there toward the end, anyway.....Behold

I like it! Reminds me of the county com EOD breacher bars that I used to see floating around. I wonder how it would look with a BK11 style handle. The square profile might agree with it quite well.

I think this would be a awesome little tool to have as part of an EDC kit. Make some prototypes and let me test one out ;)

Thanks. I had to draw the handles on there because I couldn't decide if the tang should be skeletonized or not.

Cool concept! Just takes a little of the pry bar-ishness out, but would still be seriously handy. I'll offer up my 3 if someone wants to try it. But I want the result back, after a pass around of course!

Nice drawing! And you claim to have no skills.....seriously, looks very compact and useful, even the rope cutter/billy hook looks like it could double as a bottle opener, which would be an absolute necessity for a tool o this nature. I'd say your best bet would be to just get a piece of steel and make it....I'd probably not skeletonize the tang and put some thinnish scales on, for a tool of that size. I like it!

Higher grinds!
Looks like a from-scratch knife to me. Ok, who's gonna make it??

I'd buy one!
Sweet drawing Hurley. I think the mini 3 would be a handy little tool.

Looks pretty easy to do. How thick of steel would you want on that? I agree about higher grinds, and I also wonder what an 11 (or 16) handle might look like on that. Tweener 3 would be more my cup o' tea, I think.

Nice, Hurley! Very well done. I would definitely add this to the emergency kit I carry in my briefcase everyday. And I would probably get one for each of the cars, too!

I agree with Granite - I don't know that I would skeletonize the tang on this one. The heavier the better for an application like this.

Thanks all. I am not experienced at the whole design thing, and I am NOT a maker either. I agree with Daizee about the higher grinds, but I wanted to stay true to the BK3 in this endeavor.....and...well, and I was drawing from pics of the BK3. I do not have a 3, so I couldn't figure out how to increase the grinds and still keep the whole angel of the belly thing. One thing I was most certain of was I was NOT going to put serrations on it. I don't like them....probably because I can cut worth a dern with them.

Perhaps I should have just bought the bayonet, LOL

Nice job bro! I'd be all over one of those in either a 14/24 or a tweener size.

I do like the tweener size idea, a lot as a mater of fact. Dex suggested one in another thread and that is what got me drawing today. I considered drawing a tweener one out. I still might, but I've always wanted a 14 sized BK3, for everyday carry. Possibly to replace or go with the TDI LE I carry at work.

The more I look at the drawing the more I wish I had a french curve and circle template that could have helped create cleaner lines.
