Who says it can't be done: Behold the BK34 TACBAR

Hey Everybody.......

I designed and we prototyped a BK 11 sized TacTul and it was one of the most unbalanced piece de merde I have ever held in my hand.... The Tweener version is some thing we should probably look at again......... Mayhap I should try to figure out an 11 sized one that I would want to put my name on........ I have several designs in the Keystone er....pipeline already and we probably are looking at a year or two......... First I have to sell my designs to the guy who has to sell them........ He is not an easy sell (which is plenty OK with me as I am embarrassed when I field a clunker) and he did not bite on the Tweener TacTul........ We shall see.........The stuff in the pipe has me WAAAAAY excited and I will share when I can.....

All Best......

Ethan

new goodies oh my!!

Protos are looking great guys! Can't wait to see the completed projects.

And Ethan, I can't wait to buy some new Becker models!

Interesting. I like them. I really do love the 3 front end and think it would work on just about any size knife. Its the thickness, like E mentioned above with balance, which is the trick. Truth be told, I'm curious to see how 34's balance is affected after the addition of scales and hardware. JD will do great, I'm sure of it, but I can't help wondering. Perhaps I should have thought about a tapered tang to help even things out. Perhaps the 34 would do better with no scales, who knows at this point.

A brute in tweener 1095, then acid etched might be kind of be sexy. Something like that might help me appreciate recurves a little more.

well my first go around at handles fell thru, i'm gonna make some thin mycarta for it. it does feel good just the way it is right now and I love that mini brute!! I think my brute is my only vault queen.. LOL

Thanks guys! I'm no where near experience enough at grinding steel to attempt the BK101 (mini Brute), so if anyone else wants to make one, feel free. :) If you decide to sell one/more than one, you could please send me one and send one to Ethan as a design payment. ;)

I'm not sure that either size of a BK3 would be something I would buy but a Tweener size BK1 is something a would have to have.

Me and Beardlove have a special walking stick with your name on it.

Don't get me wrong I love how this thread is progressing and how fast these guys can go from a drawing to an actual knife. But the tactool just isn't my thing...

I think I could manage it, having made several curved blades. I'm running low on steel for experimentation though.

My feelings exactly.

Well, I could ship you some 0.1 1095 if you want to ship back a BK101...:D;)

Well, we ARE in the same state within an hour or two away from each other... I'll think about it. The recurve isn't the hard part though. It's the back plunges.

-edit- Also, finished the BK-Tac-Tweener blank.
