Who still carries a Case Knife?

Ever have a stupid idea that ended up working out better than you could have imagined? Well this was not one of them. 🤣 I really like carbon steel but I didn’t care for the gray bone on this Barlow so I thought I’ll just add some red dye until I get around to trying to recover it. Bad idea! I will say that since doing this, I leave the knife on my desk at work and use it on gummy packing tape and dirty jobs and it has become one of my favorite users, despite being an eye sore.

I don't think it looks bad. I can see where it might not have been what you were going for though 😬🤣
Here's a thread I found for removing dye. Maybe it could help?

Thanks! I've seen that thread and I should have done that first, I guess I just chose to try a shortcut. I used the same red dye on a red bone copperhead and it worked great to turn the pink spots to red. It's obvious it only worked because they were basically the same color. Still, I really like carrying this one.

Cleaned the shield a little better and tossed it in the pocket. 😁

A red & gray Barlow - just tell folks your Great Great Grandfather was a Confederate Artilleryman and this was his knife! Unique and different, not bad really. OH

That would explain it. Now I wonder how much bone density varies in a single run of knives, and if Case has specs for it 🤓
Even with Case factory dye jobs, sometimes one side takes the dye well and the other side is left with a lot of white showing. (I have a little 6327 from 2010 like that.) Some people complain about it, but I say, "It's a feature, not a bug." 😁

I do like the 75"s
