I don't think he has a custom or a neck knife.....Oh yeah, he is literally saving my life by donating one of his kidneys to me!!

This is a great and generous contest Brian. I don't have a Custom YET, but I do have one on order from Keith Coleman with a six month wait. There are more deserving individuals, so don't include me.I just wanted to say this is one hell of a nice gesture. :D

I would love the knife. Here are some reasons.
1. Its my birthday on the 27th
2. I was looking at a custom neck knife, but since im a teenager I dont have a lot of extra money.
3. I am discovering my love of knives.
4. It would be my first custom.
5. It would be perfeck for work.
6. It would be perfect for when I go fishing.
7. You would be my new best friend.

Actually, i already have a custom or two, with far too many on order.

However, everyone else on the forums, along with everyone who will register before this contest is over, along with everyone else on the face of the earth, just besmirched my mother's honor.

Hence, you have to send the knife to me. Besides, i need a new toy ;)

Hi, all!

I love necking - er, ah, I mean, neckers! I don't have a custom yet, and this is my first post! How's that for a good reason? Kinda a celebration knife for my first post! Sounds good to me!

Then again, I'm thinking of ordering one, so go ahead and give it to someone else.

Thanks for the gesture, though! That's the one thing I like about nice guys: they're nice! ;)

Not in your tax bracket. Not even close to being in a tax bracket. Starving college student in debt is more like it :) Why not give 'em a custom? :)

As a young woman just discovering an interest in knives but lacking money as a result of only just graduating college a custom knife would be a wonderful surprise. And besides, another knife would be one more way to get "The Look" from my mother. :)

I don't want to sound pompous or anything, but I just wanted to say that I don't want your custom knife.

I'm a poor student in NYC, paying astronomical rents and getting taxed up the wazoo on my already pitiful paycheck. Next year I hope to scrape a good $19k from my assistantship at my university. Woo hoo. I've collected knives for 2 years now and yet I can count the number using my fingers w/o the help of my toes. My most expensive knife cost me $40 and probably sits in the unused box of most collections. The cost of sharpening any one of my knives exceeds the cost of the knife itself. I've never touched, seen, smelled, tasted, or held a custom to my ears for longer than a few minutes. My parents don't like my hobby so I have to keep it fairly discrete. My friends think I'm a nut because I enjoy collecting knives. I have but 1 knife magazine on my crappy book shelf and the bookstore people give me dirty looks when I read their mags.

So when I get my first custom, it's going to be one of the crowning achievements in my collection. A true gem and it's going to be worth plunking down hard earned dollars for - no hand outs, gifts, or anything.

So I don't want your custom knife. I'm going to earn my first.

Heehee, isn't it funny how us college students use being a college student as a reason to get free stuff?
I got some handouts of scrap maple burl from this guy at the NC State wood shop today...now all I need is something to put them on.
The guy gave them to be because he knows I can't afford burl.
Man...I'm pathetic, I even emailed Tom Mayo for his trash titanium so I could learn to anodize and make jewelry out of it. hehe...

Huzzah to BT!
That is a great thing you are doing :)
May your karma be good.
Don't count me in, I've got a custom or two, at least I think I do...after the last coupla' weeks I'm not so sure ;)
Kudos,
Ebbtide

Expose thyself to feel what wretches feel,
That thou mayst shake the superflux to them,
And show the heavens more just.

(King Lear, III. Iv. 28-36)

Your contest is far more than a gesture. It rises to the level of King Lear's noble attitude that, regardless of what personal trials we may have been through, we should give what extra we have to the less fortunate.

If you shake your superflux custom down to me, one who owns none but sure would like to, I imagine that the way in which it was given would enoble it so that it could only be used for good.

Whether I win or not, you have my admiration.

I knew I should have went to college, then I could have said I was a starving student at the prime age of 20. Let this be a lesson, parents aren't always wrong about school.

As for the knife...I hear that custom knives are great company, living alone gets to be lonely. We would go to both jobs together, eat together, we'd even go dancing. Besides...like someone already mentioned, NYC is harsh as far as prices. And personally, for now I'm fine with sending my extra money to siblings.

*oh yeah....I'd write an Ode to you and Knife*

SEND ME YOUR KNIFE AND I PROMISE TO:

1) build a shrine for it to sleep in at night
2) puncture a dying man's trachea to save his life
3) rescue a legless, retarded baby from a burning car
4) pierce my ears, eyebrows, nipples, nose and navel
5) personally remove those annoying tags from every BladeForums member's pillow
6) shave my head (with the knife, of course)
7) shave my dogs
8) sell every production folder I own and never buy another non-custom knife
9) send a scathing letter to the party of your choice Van Gogh style
10) carve your name on the Statue of Liberty's forehead

Kinda hard to beat THAT ONE don't ya' think ;) although it seems an awefully rough way to get a knife :D

As a newbie who has yet to buy his first real customknife, the pressure, confusion and anxiety would be over. I would finally own my very first REALknife without having to thru Monts of asking questions, never feeling certain my FIRST CUSTOM was the right one. A Free one would take that all away. I would then just have to wait until I could afford a second REAL custom and then go thru anxiety and vapor-lock....wolf:(
