Who would you cast to play Batman?

Hey man I know Ben is getting a lot of ah-hem, flack, for landing this role. But give em a shot at it. He may surprise. Call me a younger generation, but I think Christian bale played the best Bruce Wayne thus far.

I don't disagree, but that's the problem; they have ALL sucked. Bale just sucked the least.

Depp would be strong. Any guy that can play all the different whacked out parts he does and do it so well, perfect.

Christopher Walken? Is he still not locked up?

How about Morgan Freeman, he has been in every other movie made in the last several years. (He really is quite talented, and I am not taking anything away from him with this remark) Perhaps Mark Walberg?

Blessings,

Omar

Since they openly said they were looking for someone late 30's to 40's, grizzled, battle worn & weary.....i think Josh Brolin could have been a good option, though I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan would have been a great choice (Watchmen, the Losers)

I'd get Jack Nicholson when he was about 30 years younger than he is now. Jack was the top of the heap when it came to doing crazy and Batman is essentially crazy.

Here's the thing; Hollywood sucks. They should to make an adaptation of Dark Knight Returns with an unknown older actor. This is the Frank Miller story about an aged Batman coming out of retirement to reclaim Gotham. If they can't do this they ought to go the route of Sin City and just blow it out scene for scene. The last Batman franchise, although better, still sucks and that last movie was practically un-watchable, and I'm from Pittsburgh where a portion of it was shot. Just my 2 cents.

"They should make a Batman Beyond movie and have Clint Eastwood as old, bitter batman long retired"

This topic still keeps popping up? Oh ok let's get into this. . .

My vote goes to a lesser-known British actor who , to my mind, hasall the core qualifications: the look, the gravitas, and one hell of an ability to kick actual butt. Hell, he looks like Batman without the suit. I give you, Scott Adkins

I know of him thru some of his films and indeed a very good martial artist. However he strikes me to be a bit "young" not so much in age but overall.

Remember that the character had a profound tragedy happen to him at a young age. This left him to question alot of how the world is. Then he traveled around the globe learning different skills, often thru the rough-and-tumble and shady ways. All of this adds a lot of "world-weariness" and cynism (even a tad of premature aging, but not much) that has to leak thru, despite the dapper, playboy billionaire appearance.

I like John Hamm. That square jaw and how he nails a 60's guy does it for me.

Old School? How Charles Bronson in his prime or Ron Eli (Tarzan really?).

I'd vote Josh Brolin as well. So far his movies have been entertaining and he delivers a good action scene.

I have had my fill of comic book superheros. If they are going to cover this ground again, then they should update the story to make it more credible to adults. Make it a stealthy Batman, without the silly costumes and villans; a wealthy and influencial vigilante who uses his wealth, connections, and technology to privately pursue and prosecute criminals in Gotham, kind of a Deathwish merged with Donald Trump.
