Who would you cast to play Batman?

My 'serious' response to this thread would be

1_ Hugh Jackman. It would give him a chance to break-free from the Wolverine character, aslo.
2_ Gerard Butler. Have you SEEN "Law Abiding Citizen", or "300", or "Olympus Has Fallen" ? 'Nuff said.

Either has the age, look, physique to pull it off, and the ability to speak in an American accent.

Gerard Butler would get my vote.

I'd be good with that

Catwoman. Let Hollyweird figure that one out.

And with that surreal (and yet very intriguing) suggestion (just imagine the costume possibilities!) , I think this thread may have jumped the shark. Thanks for all the great ideas, BF community! You did not disappoint!

they should just CGI batman and get kevin conroy to voice it :D

Sounds like a plan. Batman the Animated Series was the only one to really nail the character so far. It really got the mix of detective work and fighting right. Batman and Batman Returns were pretty good but they screwed that up in a hurry.

The new ones weren't so good. Batman begins was pretty good, Dark Knight was okay, and Dark Knight Rises was terrible. I wasn't thrilled with Heath Ledger's joker, he did his part well but the character was all wrong, Jack Nicholson, Mark Hamil, and even Caesar Romero blew the new Joker right out of the water. Two face was mediocre at best, Catwoman wasn't quite right, Bane was just a road warrior, they even got the reason for Ra's Al Ghul the League of Assassins wrong. The only character they got right was Scarecrow... and Alfred. Plus, they took away everything that makes Batman so awesome and just made him some spoiled guy in a cape; Batman didn't even solve crimes in the new ones, Morgan Freeman did.

So on that note, Morgan freeman should play the new Batman, because he already did most of the role in Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises. :p

I agree on most points. I like Ledger's Joker because he brought so much of the Joker from "The Killing Joke" story to the screen. Other than that, I write off the entire Dark Knight trilogy as a non-canon mistake.

Batman the Animated series was terrific! I thought "Under the Red Hood" was very good, too.
