In the last two days I've received 5 orders for khukuris from Marines who think they will soon be in Iraq. Marines dumb? Tell it to the Marines.

We are going to have a Nara puja tomorrow and I'm going to put in a special request for all our men headed for conflict. As Cag said in the Bridges of Toko Ri, "They're my boys, too."

You sure are right about that. Most of my neighbors think all Nam Vets are about half crazy.

Maybe that is a good thing. They pretty much leave me alone that way. :)

If I stop to consider some of the things I've done and some I still do, I must be crazy. :p

Received this in an email the other day:

The Secretary of State, the Honorable Colin Powell, during a recent trip to the UN in New York was approached by an Iraqi news reporter, who asked: "Is it true that only 13 percent of young Americans can even find Iraq on the map?" The Secretary turned to the reporter with a smile and said: "Yes, that's true. But the sad news for Iraq is that the 13 percent are all United States Marines!"

Semper Fi,
Greg

And after the Marines get through with Iraq a hundred percent of all school children around the world won't be able to find it on a map. Guess why?

UB, do you remember what types of Khuks the Marines ordered?

bt

It would be interesting to know what the Marines are ordering, in general, to take over there.

It would be interesting.:D

As a EX Marine I know what I would take with me if I were going.

A 18" GS.:) Strong, but still light enough to carry and long enough to handle most tasks that would come up.

One of the young guys that has worked for me at shop we both work at just got activated and sent down to LeJuene. He has always liked Khuks and my BAS especially. I told him that as soon as he gets settled in at the base, to send me his mailing address and he will have my BAS as his own. Having been in the Marines 30 years ago, I appreciate his efforts for our country. Besides, he needs something more stout than the Kabar he usually carries and he doesn't like my huge ones since he is on the smallish side. I have always kidded him that he is like a real Marine, "only smaller'.:D ;) :D He takes the joking very well! I hope it serves him well, as he deserves the BEST!!! All of our troops dserve the best we can give them!

Marines took 3 Chiruwa AKs, 18"WWII and 18" AK. God bless'em. I pray the Dorje Puja works for them.

The protestors don't remember as I do when Chamberlain was conned by Hitler. It's the same song and dance, different place, different time, different singer and dancer.

Let's wait until a nuclear device or a tainted water supply kills 10 or 20 million Americans before we do anything.

Yep, that's what they will do, wait until something major like that happens.

Why?

Because they are IDIOTS..

Excellent and businesslike choices, I'm sure they'll serve well. Let's hope our boys don't hafta use em which I bet is a part of the Puja...

I've read somewhere that certain sects of Buddhism do not permit the use of edged weapons (historically even amongst Buddhist warriors), which still leaves at their disposal a wide varity of staff stick and mace weapons. Anybody know more on this?

I was in the Corps from 81 to 85. I'll bet at least one of my old buddies is a Sgt Major by now and "over there" Good luck to them all!!

Keith, I have read that Tibetan monks historically carried their long, heavy keys on long leather straps. This was not a dedicated weapon, but could definitely be used well by someone with training...such as the dop-dop monks.

"I have always kidded him that he is like a real Marine, 'only smaller'." Though, I was in the Army & not the Marines, some pretty 'potent' stuff came in small packages! Good luck to your buddy!;)

I was in the Corps from '66 to '70. I left the Corps but the Corps never left me. ;)
