Who's already making knives in ZDP189?

I believe Spyderco is releasing some knives with this steel. A Delica and a Native I believe.

Hi Brian.

Spyderco is producing a Caly jr in ZDP-189. The model is planned for delivery next month.

It is a "Sprint" run of 1200 pieces. More than half have already been spoken for by our distributors and dealers.

Burgundy FRN handle. Full flat grind.

Hey Cliff, The ZDP is a san-mai laminate so Rc is difficult to test without a micro-hardness tester. 64/65 is the claim. The piece I use in my kitchen is 65, but it is a solid piece.

When they come in, I'll send you one to test. I owe Joe a Caly as well. I'll be curious to hear results.

Always loved the blade shape on the Calypso folders, would love to also
pick up one of these with the new steel, who will have them available
to order from?

Hi Sal, are these on track to ship early this month?

as for the WH damascus laminated ZDP, it is amazing stuff. I got to see some in person and the blades are just beutiful. There is a line, following the dark part of the pattern as it meets the ZDP. I would say they are the best looking blades, also probably some of the best performing.

Shipping? To whom? Do we call Spyderco or a distributor? If so, which distributor?

Thanks!! :D

Thanks Sal! I will never forget my first Spyderco, bought from your hands
at Ashokan, a blue Delica Serrated edged that was SO razor sharp it
was amazing, I sliced a crumpled up piece of paper and it went through
like it wasn't there and you looked up from the table and saw what I
was doing and just smiled and I'm sure I had a real goofy grin on my
face ;)

Thanks for the info, Sal!! Hopefully some will make into the Canadian distribution chain - I've been wanting one to play with one for a while. I've asked one of my vendors for an ETA, but she didn't have one a week or so ago. I'm going to have to "sneak" this one in, though :) I have a Centofante III, Dragonfly and Byrd Meadowlark due to arrive this week.

They should be available through your normal Spyderco source. It might take a few weeks to get them all out to distributors and dealers.

Few weeks - it's how long? I'm waiting Delica ZDP for a year.
