Howdy,

Who's got Auroras, and what do you like about 'em?

And what is the difference between them and those other variants? Or what variants are there? And which one might I like, and why?

And images, lots and lots of images! Please!

Best,
Marion

I like the shape of the blade and the edge, I bought the bone handle and sanded it down to fit me better.

I've got an Aurora. One of my favorite Barkies.

I like the full size handle and the long pointed blade. Love the convex grind and edge. Really easy to sharpen.

I don't know much about if there are any variants, although I do know there is a Liten Bror(little brother) which is a scandi-convex version of the Aurora. Sadly, I don't have one.

Here are some pics:

I've got one with an African Blackwood handle.
For some reason, I never took any of my own pics of it. Here's the stock BRKT pic:

I like the blade length, and the handle is sized for real hands. The balance is exquisite. It came sharp, is easy to sharpen, and comes with a very good sheath, unlike a lot of other production knives. Even with the convex grind (I have an older one with a full height convex), it outdoes my scandis for carving fuzz sticks and the like.

G'day Marion

I don't have an Aurora, but I do have the Liten Bror (I'm guessing it could be classed as an variant of the Aurora).

I principally bought it to try what is commonly called a "bushcrafter" style of knife for the first time and to continue my evaluation of 3V as a using steel.

Since we all like pics, here's a few of the uses the Liten Bror has received since I've got it.

First up, the mandatory knife in stump shot :D

Now for some dirty pics

The videos showing it being used to skin & butcher a goat can be seen here:

The following video shows it being used to do a bit of notching, shaving & drilling a hole through a rock hard seasoned hardwood limb.

You'll have to wait till I finish my review of it to see the rest of the pics & videos :D

Kind regards
Mick

I like the blade shape & the edge holding property of the steel.

The one on the bottom is the Aurora, middle is the Liton Bror & top is the Nebula:

I gotta tell you though that the Liton Bror is my favorite of these three.
Very comfortable handle,CPM 3V steel, nice convex scandi grind.
It's just a real handy knife to carry around the woods.

Thanks for the video Mick !

Just got one in the mail on Sat. have not used it yet but i love the handle feels great in the hand. Think i need a Liten Bror now:eek:

I thought I had a solo pick:confused: My Aurora is out of the first batch. The handle is a little too thick for me, but it is comfortable.

Nice bright orange handle:D

The Aurora is a great knife.

The Aurora shown below is a short blade variant (4" blade), note the additional belly.

The original "Lil' Brother"?

And here it is with the Bravo-1 and the Huntsman. :D

I may be forced to buy one when the funds are there. The scandi grind ones are cool looking.

I've got one. It's a great knife but I hardly ever use it. The handle and blade are a little longer than my preference but it's a great knife!

Rock6, what is the knife next to the Aurora (2nd from right with wood handles)? Thanks.

It looks like the Hiking and Camping forum knife from Bark River.

Could be wrong though......

It's the Nebula.

Thanks. Isn't that the Barkie to never be made again though? To bad if it is, I like the look of it better than the Aurora. If so, I'll stick with my Gunnies.

HD, I love the Gunny too. It has become my favorite Barkie. In fact I just picked up my second one. I noticed too that on pre-orders you can have them make it as a drop point, which might be a nice variation.

BTW I love the patina you have going on yours.

Wow do they have any pics of one like that?

Would love to have an Aurora, many of brkt designs don't appeal to me;I like the Aurora though.
