Who's gotten their 5.1 Starter?

So what's the order here? Pre-orders ship out first, I'd hope (even though I'm not a pre-order). But then what? Do the ones that were ordered once they were announced here on the board get shipped next? Or does it all wait until Jan. when the rest of the unclaimed go up for order??

As far as we know, the preorders will ship in time for Christmas. The other blades that were a "pre sale" were also supposed to go out before then but don't hold your breath. I just looked at the Instagram pics and the "5.1 preorders are shipping..." Pic was 6 weeks old... So I'm hopeful, but not optimistic that the preorders will be out, and I'm guessing that the presales will go sometime around the new year. Any other confirmed sightings or shipping notifications that anyone else knows of?

Only one confirmed sighting that I know of. I'm really excited for those lucky enough to have ordered one. Im also ready to see some in use photos!

Things have been a little slower this week. One of the blasting cabinets went down, the part was next day aired but got lost on the way. Guy was able to get it fixed yesterday. He has also managed to picked up a cold so he is slow moving himself.

I think the cabinet in question was built on a Friday afternoon. There have been a few things that needed replacing. Guy seems to have found the source and has the machine up and running as of last night.

Guy is definitely optimistic when he talks about shipping things out. The reality is that we did start shipping preorders out 6 weeks ago, just not at the volume we had been planning on. With the machine up and running again, we will have some much larger shipping batches. I suspect that part of why we aren't seeing much about the GSO-5.1 yet is because before the machine went down it was mostly CPM-20CV blades that were finished, while most folks on BladeForums probably went with CPM-3V. Plus, many of our customers have probably never even heard of Blade Forums. I also think a lot of packages are being wrapped and stuffed under a tree.

Yep, preorders are being shipped first followed by the presale stuff. Our intention was to list a number of blades that we knew we could get out in time for Christmas. With the machine going down for a few days we are running behind schedule. We are still planning on having all GSO-5.1 orders out before Christmas though. We will just be working late for a few days.

Thank you so much for the quick reply, SURVIVE!Ellie, as well as USMC-Capt and Texas-toothpick. I tell you one thing, no one can fault S!K one bit on their customer interaction! And certainly wasn't trying to push; was just trying to get an idea. Again, thanks!

I was on the pre-sale and asked the same question. According to Ellie, they are trying to get the pre-sale shipped before Christmas too.

Edit: Oops, my page did not refresh and didn't know Ellie and some others have already replied.

This might be off topic but Survive knives is the reason I can't buy custom knives with 3v steel or stainless.

1) it's either "proprietary HT by the maker (which I have doubts).
2) Most custom knife makers I know uses Peter's for HT
3) unless you're a steel snob, 3v and 20cv are more than enough if you want a tough or high wear resistant steels.
4) lastly, the PRICE point is really good.

I saw the one on Facebook also. I saw another one on BlackScoutSurvival's youtube review. That one looked awesome. I wasn't able to get in on the Starter but did get my name on a pre-sale one. I'm very excited to get it.

Just got my tracking #!!!

Mind if I ask if it was a Starter or Pre-sale? And if it was a pre sale, mind if I ask your order number? Sorry to be nosey, I'm just trying to gauge if the one I ordered for my brother will be here before Christmas.

Thanks,

Junkyard
