Who's gotten their 5.1 Starter?

Did you order yours with the ferro notch or bow drill divot? If you did then there might be a delay getting these done. Basically I think Guy just sharpens all the blades. When he is done sharpening then they will install the handles or drill the ferro notch after that. The drilling will have to wait. I am not sure if this is the case but I think Ellie did mentioned something to that extend?

No notches or divots. Just plain.

ETA: VERY late pre-sale purchase. Probably one of the last couple available. I'm probably going to be contacting them in a few days to update my address, too.

Probably still doing the assembly after sharpening? Or waiting for certain scales? I don't know but I do know I will receive it eventually.

FYI - in case anyone is trying to figure out shipments

My presale order (Dec 4th) shipped on Tues. Scheduled to arrive tomorrow (Friday). It was a 5.1 in 20CV

The ferro notches are always done before sharpening. With the way the machine is setup for those, there would be some missing fingers otherwise. That is part of why we stopped offering ferro notches. They add a bit of time to the process. Someone has to go through and count how many blades are ferro notched vs not notched. Toward the end of the run we have to recount because of order changes. That doesn't even include the time for machine setups and doing the work.

Not that we know of. The only one I know of who received a notification is my friend who ordered 2 or 3 days after me during the pre-sale, but maybe because his is in 20CV?

Most of the CPM-20CV presale knives are shipped. The CPM-3V blades are getting built and packed over the next few days. We should be able to have all of those heading out on Monday, along with this past Monday's orders.

I guess I'm just lucky. It probably was truly one of the last couple of 20CV pre-sales ordered.

Ahhh! Thanks for the explanation Ellie. I got the sequence reversed. So the ferro notch part and the final sharpening part is something really tedious.

Mine came today. I can't figure out how to post pictures here. So I'll have to resort to telling you all, how much more cool this big ass knife is, than what I was even expecting it to be. Size is great. Seems huge next to my 4.1.

The non-glare peened finish is great. I went with the bone linen scales and they are also way nicer in person than what any picture I've seen shows. Almost look and feel like real bone.

The edge is a razor blade of course. I chose the 3V blade steel, I wanted the extra durability.

The weight and feel is right on. Very comfortable and no doubt capable. Handle contour is a quantum leap from what my old 4.1 is, and I still do love that blade. Fills the hand while not being to fat a grip.

And finally the bone linen with black bolts, the grey blade steel and the spring flat dark earth sheath, just plain looks cool and goes together really well. Not to mention, the new sheath "design" is quite nice. A little more trim and finished.

Love it. I'll be taking this out in a week to the woods for an over nighter and plan on using the snot out of it.

SpaceAce, that is so cool. Congratulations! I use the photobucket app on my phone. I open the app, upload a pic from my phone, select the .img link and paste it here!

We need to get you posting pictures...that sounds like a pretty knife!

Pretty badass :D

And yeah, let us know if you have questions on getting pics posted. I know there is someone who could explain it better than I did and others who do it differently.

Thanks gentleman, I'll have to look into the picture options. There have been a few times I tried to post pictures but couldn't. Thanks for the advice and happy slicing.

P.S. I did post some pictures on the survive knives Facebook fan page.

OBX, it IS a pretty knife. I remember it going out. This batch of bone linen is.... different. It is more polished than we usually prefer around here, but the color is really rich.

Here you go SpaceAce!! I got the same exact setup on the 4.7 and damn I'm glad I did!!
