Just wonder if y'all are hunting this morning and if y'all are which gun and knife you caring? It's first day of rifle season here in NC! Two does on the corn early just waiting on them horns to come out. Remington 700 and BUSSE TGLB!

Replanted quarry across the road; everyday I & JRT look for rabbits & possibly brush tailed possums, with slingshot & solid steel secateurs/hand pruners,
Last year I told a fool to control his belligerent APBT. He said "Shut up or I'll set him on you"
I pulled out my 6 inch Svord Gen Purpose Deluxe "rabbitting" knife & said "Do it. fool.'
'He rang the cops claiming he was being threatened with a stabbing . I was only gonna kill his dig in self defence. I was arrested. Judge said no more knives
Thus the secateurs, suitable for`field butchering rabbits & stabbing attacking pitbulls, rotties etc in the eyes whenever they attack my Jack Russell.
Next on list ,a garden trowel made to the same level as a hunting knife.
"The secateurs are for cutting the blackberry out of my way & the trowel is for digging my dog out of rabbit holes ,officer".Yeah Right.

Going for a goose shoot at my buddies place tomorrow. I'll be borrowing a shotgun. Don't know which one. Most likely gonna go a few times.
Haven't done enough scouting this year but I'll be going for whitetail with my Bow, a BowTech General. I'll take my Backwoods hunter with me for both.

Good luck out there guys!

I've been at the shack deer hunting since Monday but I moved my stand yesterday so gonna let it sit for at least a day. I've seen tons of does but no bucks. Another year of slim pickens I believe. Think I'm gonna go for grouse today. Good luck everybody.

PSE Stinger 3G for bow season and a Mossberg 500 for gun season later this year. I'll have a Battle Horse Comanche & Blind Horse Lil' Muck with me.

Rifle season isn't in here yet.....but soon and I'll be carrying this, minus the hawk

Bow season just opened here. It will be my Mora Companion with me when I get off work and finally get to hit the woods.

arrowed two does thus far, have seen and let walk a lot of deer. Really have a nice plot of 30 acres of hardwoods, heavy Oaks and thick ground cover. Very lucky to have this <5 miles from my home. Still Shoot my Jennings Bow from 1987. Killed over 100 deer and 10 plus turkey with it. Every year I say, "time for a new bow" and every year the $1000 changes my mind. Always carry a George Guthrie skinner in heavy back bone ATS34 and a James Terrino D2 blade for breaking bone and ribs. It hold a monster edge. I seldom, if ever take a buck, hones don't taste good, and our Buck to Doe ratio is is almost 1 to 13. Way to high, it's a shame, but North Carolina has an aggressive season and hunters shot horns without thinking about the future. Shame in a way.

I owned a Jennings model T about a million years ago. Have been shooting a beautiful recurve for the last 25 years and I'd never go back to a compound. When I was a kid you'd see a lot of other hunters out there now I feel like I've got the woods all to my self. Not near the hunters out there anymore, consequently you see more big and bigger bucks. I usually pack my old gerber fixed blade.

TGLB will do just fine

Yes, one could make it work, but I'll never understand why one would want to when so many other knives make for a near perfect deer knife. And in about any price range.
Heck, I guess its just the, Butcher, ex Game Processing Business owner, and hunter in me coming out. Even if it were a smaller/thinner knife the coating would still bug me:o:p

Nothing wrong with him wanting to carry/use his big coated Busse only at all, but I'm sure he has knives better suited for the task, and I was just wondering if he had taken another along.

I haven't used the TGLB to skin one yet... I'm sure I could but I like something smaller more control that way. The TGLB is with me most always that and my Glock 21 gen4. Thanks for the post guys lets see your load outs for hunting this year.

Opening day next Sat for rifle in the Adirondacks. Looking forward to it. Gonna be 3 weeks of therapy for me. Hoping for an early snow during that time, to make it a little easier determining the goings on. Tough hunting when there are only 1.2 deer per square mile, as opposed to 20+ per in the Catskills. Good luck to all who venture forth.

Nice 45-70 Marlin nemesis !!

I agree on the coating. I strip all of mine immediately or buy satin

I believe "Let' em go...Let'em grow" only wall hangers and maybe a doe(for jerky) is what I shoot.
