Who's looking forward to winter?

I am! I shot a wedding with my wife last Saturday in upstate New York, by midnight the temperature outside was 41 degrees. It felt refreshing, the first cold temps I've experienced in many many months. It got even more refreshing during the drive home when the heater valves in my car got stuck closed. My wife bundled up and was mildly annoyed but I like to start acclimatizing to colder temps, so a couple of chilly hours in a car was just fine with me. I prefer spring, fall and winter camping to the summer. Heat, humidity and insects bother me a lot more than waking up knowing I'm going to be a bit cold for a few minutes. Any others here looking forward to winter?

I am! I love the winter. Love the cold. Love the snow (which never happens around here). I do much more hiking/biking/camping in the winter. These Louisiana temps just kill me during the summer. Can't wait to move to a more enjoyable climate.

ME! I'm so sick of hot weather; can't wait to "suit up" before going out and feeling that briskness hit me in the face.

I am really looking forward to it. I can't wait to be free from skeeters and hear the...oh yeah, you don't hear much come winter. Also, we're holding another winter course in February and it is filling up.

The best are the looks people give you and the comments. To that, I always say, "if you have to ask why we do it, you'll never know."

love the cool fall weather and winter. Bring it on. I want to see - 50 Celcuis temps, howling winds and blowing snow, and packs of timber wolves running thru the cesspool that is downtown Vancouver, eating all the yuppies.:D

I'm stoked for winter. Every season offers its own wilderness activities. For me, winter is snowshoeing season. My usual hiking trails disappear under several feet of snow, and I get to wander through the woods as I please without worrying about the underbrush. I can't wait!

All the best,

I am looking forward to the winter, very much so. I can do a LOT more in the winter, and I find it a better way to test myself. Not to long, now.

Me! I HATE summer. Bring on the cooooooold. I live in Atlanta, it's hell here in the summer. It wasn't too bad this summer, fairly mild, but I've been miserable. I'm very sensitive to heat due to a medication I'm on, and heat is torture for me. I sweat like a fat mobster in a sauna if it's over 76 degrees or so.

Bring on the ice- bring on the snow. Bring on the cool coats with lots of pockets and snuggling with the wife at night to keep warm. I lived in Iowa for 8 years- it gets nice and cool there in the winter. Atlanta's all right- it'll be in the 60s from October until April or so.

winter grilling and BBQ'ing! I sat outside last year with the hibachi going, lump charcoal with mesquite chips throw on, a couple of steaks, drinking ice cold beer. People did double takes as they walked by.

ah, freggin love winter and fall, no bugs, not as many animals to eat me up, and even less crazyie's in the woods.

Plus, I love tracking.:D

I can't say I'm looking forward to Michigan winters (icy roads, tons of salt and slush) but they sure beat Michigan summers (90+ degrees).

I think fall's the best, and that had better come soon. :)

the night winds howling
like wolves calling to the pack
through the city streets

can you run with them
whispering their hidden names
scenting the fresh blood?

The best day of winter is when the last snow melts and the night stays above freezing! :D

softly the old wolf whimpers as he dreams
vaguely remembering hunting long ago
racing over hillsides, splashing through the streams
running in the rain, plunging into snow

seizing prey in triumph as he hears their screams
never fighting nature, going with the flow

life no longer what it was, only what it seems

There is nothing like an Upper Penninsula Michigan Winter. I love late season bowhunting in the cedar swamps. Life slows down up here the tourist slow waydown (except the snowmobillers).I love snowshoeing and exploring the woods in winter.bring it on

Me too. The coldest it gets in Texas is 40 degree (central texas).....I'm looking forward to a cooold winter, and I'll be so pumped if we go hunting this year. It'll be awesome.

I'm neither looking forward to it nor lamenting it. While I'm not adverse to winter, I can hardly say I'm pumped about -40degree weather.
