Who's looking forward to winter?

I look forward to fall, winter and spring hiking the most. Less people, less or no bugs, easy access to areas so overgrown in summer that you avoid them.
Hiking during or after a steady snow is refreshing to me.

70's F Humid, squeeters bloodsucking.

It is darn hard to look forward to winter in North Dakota but I am ready to be rid of the bugs and stuff. I have been up to my Butt in snow most of my life so I can't say that I would ever like to see another flake of snow, EXCEPT for Xmas day. We had about 100 inches last winter and awful flooding this spring. I really like it when it starts freezing every night though.

Not yet, to be honest. Eventhough I love winter camping and climbing, sea paddling becomes a bit of a chore and a test of will. Plus, we hardly had a summer to speak of this year at all. Still, I 'd be lying to say I don't get immense satisfaction from putting my boat in the Bay of Fundy when it's -20c and there's three feet of snow on the ground:thumbup:

Right now I'm pretty happy. It's warm during the day, and cool enough at night to keep the mosquitoes away.

I like a good winter campout. It's alot more work with snow and cold, but it feels great too.

And it makes me just a little less unhappy to return home;)

Being in San Diego there really isn't much difference between summer and winter...except that the girls are slightly less scantly clad in the winter.

Can't say I'm looking forward to it because it lasts soooo long around here. Give me the carefree days of summer any time. The darkness of winter is just plain depressing:(

I used to look forward to winter, but over the past few years I've become more ambivalent about it.
It can be very beautiful and refreshing. It can also be very hazardous while creating all kinds of extra work.

My favorite time of the year here in the Northeast is late autumn.

One thing i DON'T like about winter is the tracks (mine) left in the snow. I dont like guberment types (rangers park staff) seeing my footprints off a trail and following me. Sometimes to avoid leaving tracks off a main trail, i will throw a tag line and throw weight over a big tree, pull up a static rope and "swing" off the main trail into the woods.

I'm finally looking forward to winger because we just moved from Newton, IA to lower Louisiana over the labor day weekend. I'm looking forward to NOT shoveling snow, NOT scraping and chipping ice and NOT driving in snowstorms. I still missing living on my sailboat in the Keys, but I'm a day's drive closer to there and much warmer:D:thumbup:

Here in CA, the only thing I like about the winter is the colder weather; it feels great and tends to keep the trail traffic down.

Other than that....it rains a lot (in normal years anyway....), my heating bill goes up since my GF refuses to put on more clothes (on second thought, I guess that's a good thing:eek::D...), and all the girls stop wearing skimpy summer wear....

Someone linked this last winter.... funny video!

It is definately starting to feel like fall here. Not to mention busted out the Oktoberfest brews last night... Can't find woodchuck cider out here in Idaho so I have to ship it. I'm excited, thanksgiving, good food, changing leaves, hunting season, all that kinda stuff. Fall is my favorite season by far.

Very much but I'm in no hurry to fast forward to it. Rather enjoying autumn right now.

Agreed, I've been waiting for Autumn for months I want to enjoy it....then I'll enjoy the winter. I have new knives and fire starting methods to try out which I am much looking forward to. And three months later....I'll enjoy the re-emergence of life in the world then start that long wait all over again.
