who's your favorite expert?

Quiet Bear, any more information on Mark Warren (Medicine Bow) and Ila Hatter? I've followed your posts, as I mentioned before, so if you think they are worthy of consideration, then I'd like to check them out.
Doc

Hey Doc - I have a particular appreciation for Mark and Ila for their knowledge of Cherokee plant use.

Mark is in a class all his own as he teaches everything from archery to survival to sign language and couples it with local knowledge - much of it revolving around plant use. His background is in chemistry, so he connects a lot of the past to the future regarding plant medicine too. He believes plants are the foundation of survival - my kinda guy.:)

Ila, and her husband Jerry, also have vast knowledge regarding Cherokee Food and Medicine. Their videos are particularly good for the beginner, but they really shine when you spend time with them in the Great Smoky Mountains. I have gone through the Smoky Mountain Field School with several different botanists and Ila's local knowledge is of particular appreciation.

Marty Simon. Unconditionally the best. http://www.weteachu.com

Up and comer: our own Kevin Estela. Never have I met someone who is more of a "natural" when it comes to nature, and he is a gifted teacher as well. In 20 years, he'll be the "go to" guy for wilderness and survival, mark my words. He learns things once and retains them, and is able to use newfound skills immediately. Not surprisingly, his mentor is Marty Simon.

Now, just to make sure he doesn't get a big head, let me add that Kevin is still a PUTZ!!!!!!

:D:D:D:D:D:D (just kidding)

Anybody that has the patience to try to teach me something has got to be good. Those two amazed me on how much they know and how well they explain it. I will be taking their course this summer and can't wait!

Marty Simon, nicest teacher I ever had..he just talks and you want to listen. Kevin Estela is a great instructor that will develop into a great wilderness guru IMO. These 2 are also alot of fun to be around, that makes learning a hell of alot easier. Gene
