I just watched one of Les Stroud's shows where he shows how to survive in a natural disaster. This is actually more of the kind of surviving I would face if any at all. The one I watched was on a huricane/flood and he used Katrina as his example. Pretty good but I think he does one on earthquakes as well. And earthquakes are the only real natural disaster I think most of us CA residents face. Good stuff though.

I don't own a TV, but I've watched all three through the internet.

Ray Mears is my choice, by far. His depth of outdoors knowledge, his level of outdoors skills, and the informative content conveyed in his programs far surpasses the other two.

i already voted, but ill submit a write in as well.

You must be a Democrat... Vote early, vote often..

But seriously, I like Les, great show, lots of useful info, and he is a hell of an Adventure Racer... However, my vote goes out to Ray. The few TV segments of his that I have seen have been well planned, informative, entertaining, useful, and unlike Bear, Ray's infomation is safe and correct!

I had a hard time with this one between Ray Mears and Bear Grylls. Two very different types. Although you can learn from all three, I still love Ray Mears, he is the one that got me really interested in bushcraft and the only one I have solidly learnt from. The other two teach more rudimentary survival techniques, which are very important, but Mears teaches bushcraft which is similar yet different.

he goes into an area prepared and shows how to make the best of your surroundings and you learn about different cultures and their tricks along the way. I remember rewinding back and forth over and over a 5 second clip of Ray tying a knot so I could learn it. The ones I learned from him kept me ahead in the military with bivouacs and whatnot as well as hunting and other outdoors activities. he outlines the importance of a good chopper (busse perhaps ;) )

Anyway, they each have their merit but my vote goes to Ray, such a nice guy and a good teacher.

Watching Survivorman, and Man vs Wild is on next:thumbup:

Havn't seen survivorman much before, but already like Les much better than Bear.
Both a little over dramatic, but Les is less so.

Never seen Ray, but from his website and what others have said it seems he is the less dramatic. Does he have a show, if so whats the name?

I'm watching Survivorman, too... Wow. :D

I don't like to be in bear territory, can't imagine what Lion territory is like - WITHOUT A GUN!!!!!!:eek:

Did notice the knife lashed to the spear - what is it? It has a cross-guard...
