Why all the Benchmade stain?

Last week I got a 890-111 that I bought at KW. He was very poorly sharpened. Cutting edge has a curve with the different parties.

You bought a knife that came with parties? Some people ahve all the luck, all I ever get a microfiber pouch and a plastic baggie. :(

Well, my experience with the two most recent BM purchases pretty much illustrates my overall experience with a number purchased over the years.

1. 480-1 Shoki: Blade significantly off center, edge grind uneven near tip, and not very sharp when it arrived. The edges of the liners still have all the tooling marks, and they just anodized them without even smoothing them out. I am not expecting Sebenza fit and finish on a griptilian, but the Shoki has twice the sticker price and should be noticeably better than the typical griptilian.

2. 470 Emissary (for my son): Superb fit and finish, no issues whatsover. Edge was not as dull as the Shoki, but not what I would consider sharp, either.

Friend, I'm sorry but I do not understand your question. Google translates badly

Мои извинения друг. Я понимаю, что Google не отражает точного перевода. Я была только попытка добродушные шутки. Не обижайтесь имел в виду.

:D

I just had a great experience with BM warranty, I had a 755 MPR first production, there was a lot blade play and the lock would fail with a little pressure to the spine. So I called BM and they told me to send in the knife, I did and had it back in a week. The lock-up on the knife is rock solid now with no play at all, I am very happy with the sevice I recieved. Also in the box they sent it back in was a 30% off coupon good towards a knife, or a pen. Because of that experiance I will continue to purchase BM knives.

Here's another example,
My 551. Screw poorly painted and the blade wobbles in all directions.
I wrote about it on FB

Вы имеете несчастье с Benchhmade ножи. Сколько они берут на корабль к вам из США?

Tostig,
I hope I'm not being lame again, but maybe you can help us make some sense of your logic...
You buy a $150+ BM....knowing it has "inexcusable problems" ???
You refuse to take advantage of BM's CS because the knife is so expensive??? (That's why CS exists)
You don't understand why any US (mass production) company could have any QC issues???
You say you "love the knife overall, not because it's a BM, but because it's a sweet knife"...???
Then, you turn around and claim that "it is one hell of a fine knife with zero play" after pages of complaining about just that???
As for your bicycle analogy...most bike enthusiasts do, in fact, re-work and modify their bikes to their own specs before they are satisfied.
Be careful collecting those cans...hoss ;)

The factory edge thing still goes on. When I was a kid, 30 years ago, knives came that way. People also knew how to sharpen knives freehand, and would put the edge they liked best on their knives. First learn to sharpen freehand. Second, learn what edge works best for you. I personally find BM's edge to be too obtuse for most uses, so I re-profile to what I like no problems, and no whining on my part. As far as fit and finish goes; yes BM has been lacking in quality control for the past couple of years. Fortunately most BM's are adjustable and I can adjust to fit and finish I want. By the way I EDC a BM 740 daily, I like the liner lock, action, and overall aperance of this knife.

I like bm quite a bit but none of the newer models do anything for me so I have not got any for a few years now

That's exactly how I feel. Benchmade makes some classy knives and some real boring ones too.

Kershaw and BM are the only 2 companies I dont have problems with. Except for the edges which I do on most all knives. I've had numerous issues with spyderco though but they dont seem to get much attention for some reason.

Shipping costs approximately $ 30.
