First I have to say H1 steel is my favorite blade material. Why can't someone make a knife besides spydero that has all rust free components like H1 and titanium parts. Even BM has rust free folder but it has stainless internal parts. Which is why the only true rust free concept folding knife is the SALT series by spyderco.

Why i like H1 steel? i like the steel because it is easy to sharpen. Gee wiz, call me crazy, but why all these "supersteels" when it takes so darn long to sharpen one? I dull my knives when making basic food prep in teh kitchen. Also because i am to lazy to cut food on a wooden board (another thing i have to buy just to keep the knives sharp:grumpy:) because if you cut the food on a ceramic plate or marble countertop, guess what? Then the knife goes dull instantly while chopping.. there does all the supersteel tests out the door!!!!!!! I never here much mention about this on youtube tests and it is the way I use a knife around the house. I cut things like an apple with it on whatever surface is closest. The knife edge gets bent chopping fruit or vegatbles on a hard surface. I don't need to chop down a tree. i just want to cut an orange without the blade going dull. Well it aint going to happen. So the best thing is throw all these hard use stells out and get one that is easy to sharpn with a fw licks. That is anothr reason i like the H1 steel. Plus it hardens with more sharpening.. another great thing about H1.

So why am i the only one who would rather take a few swipes on some ceramic stick and have hair cutting sharp blade after every use? It only takes a few seconds and about 6 swipes and BANG it cuts like a razor. I lave my Spyderco sharpening sticks out and ready to go in my kitchen. But a lot of good is that going to do me as it takes to long to sharpen a knife i just took 2 seconds to dull chopping a tomato or onion on a plate. It aint worth it. So I ant a easy to sharpen stell. And something ic an throw in teh dishwasher or leave soaking overnight in the sink. I don't always want to care, shapen , clean and dry a knife.

Also why don't i see my "ultimnate" folder out ther ebeing produced? Which materils would be H1 and Titanium and no crews that rust or oter internal parts? Also i would like a folder that I can take apart like an Emerson with a coin so i can clean it and the warranty does not expire (that is pretty much all I like about emersons knives).

I want a rust free knife like a Spyderco Salt
With build construction similar to Zero tolerance with Titanium
and easy to take apart like a Emerson.

Is it only me that wants these things?

SOMONE PLEASE MAKE A FULL HARDER USE KNIFE WITH TITANIUM AN A COOL DESIGN WITH H1 STEEL, PLEASE!

I use $5 flexible polypro cutting boards and $5-30 Vic kitchen knives. Easy to care for and knives stay very sharp for weeks. I don't think you really need rust-proof steel as some stainless steels you have to try to intentionally make them rust with months of neglect.

Not saying it's the best set up in the world but you can fully equip the kitchen and buy a Sharpmaker for less than $120 and be fulfilling similar goals where as that H1 and titanium knife would be $120 or more alone. Probably wouldn't be a super thin flat grind either.

FYI: Boye made nonrusting knives before Spyderco. The blades are made of Dendritic cobalt. They also made a fixed blade model.

Good call on the Boye....be sure you buy the cobalt product if you go this route, he makes them in other steel also...

That is exactly the answer I didn't want to hear.

Why have a knife at all if I can't use it???????

Just to keep in my pocket?..sheesh!

I don't live in the woods. i don't clean fish and hunt deer. I use a flushing toilet at home. I have blenders, rice cooker, dishwasher and a microwave.

What the hell do i need a pocket knife for then? For fun that is why. If I stocked my house full of knives for each use i would spend a heck of a lot less and get more done. A simple Vic in teh pocket or a multitool would accomplish the rest.

But me.. I like nice strong hard use folders like a Para II, ZT 0560, Spyderco military, Hinderr, strider , sebenza ect ect........................I just want a rust free version with easy to sharpen steel thats all.

I really like H1 too, is is decently tough as well . I would prefer an H1 knife with G10 for better grip. In any case colubrid, you might be able to find a custom maker to make you a folder in H1 on these very forums. BTW, I have been wondering from your name if you were a snake breeder or collector?

There's a pretty good reason pocket knives are called pocket knives and kitchen knives are called kitchen knives......

not exactly the most attractive folder i have seen.

It has the bird hole to. Think i would stick with a Salt:

There are plenty of good steels that aren't hard to sharpen. And many of the newer steels aren't all that hard to sharpen.
If you're having that big of a problem with them I would suggest learning more about sharpening. You're not going to see many knifes made with H1(they're mainly made for salt water usage), so you may need to adapt, instead of expecting the knife companies to adapt to you.

The only manufacturer I know of that has Japanese made steels (Hitachi) exported is KAI. The H1 steel Spyderco uses is not exportable in bar stock form. At this point, this is about having reasonable expectations of whatever knife you use. You want a rust free knife, that is easy to sharpen while cutting something on a ceramic plate with a harness of 83Rc+. The hardness of the plate will be higher than that of any steel you use. Not everyone uses their folders in the kitchen. I know you probably don't care, but it is what it is. If you are too lazy to use a cutting board, then it might follow suit when sharpening knives. Good luck.

Just putting it out there brother. At least get a cutting board or two :d

I do use a folder to open packaging in the kitchen and to cut up food away from home often, now and then do some food with them at home too just for fun and to play with geometries. Definitely not knocking having fun with them at all.

You miss the point!

First i have had all the knives. Beleive me. I have had all of them. All the production and a lot of the customs. i know steels and sharpening.

The problem is you do not see beyond the Salt name. You think of it as a steel for salt water use only.. As you believe the advertisments that was its only intended purpose.

Take out the Salt name for a moment..

H1 hardens with use. It is a great steel.

Plus if i get up in the middle of the night to eat. I can cut cheese and not have to clean the blade emmediatly because i am tired. So I toss it into in a glass of water to soak until morring. how many knives can you do that with?

What is next? You going to tll me not to eat in the middle of the night?
To use a different blade?
To used pre sliced cheese?

LOL~

Well I have a wooden choppping block. i just think it is harder to clean the onion smell out of it (or fish or whatever smell) when it is easier to swipe a knife on some sticks.

A knife should be designed to make my life easier.
Not harder to keep te stupid thing sharp and rust free.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might find, you get what you need.cwd

Bunches of them - seriously. One of our paring knives was in a container filled with dirty water for over a week after my wife used it to cut an orange...no sign of rust.

Regular stainless steels can be pretty corrosion resistant.

Do whatever you want mang, you're the one that asked.
HUH!?

I can't do what i want. I am not sheeple. I learned from using my knives. That is why i want a nice high end Ti plus H1 steel combo folder that has no internal rusting parts or screws, rivets ect. Then i also happen to like to keep my knives sharp . so I prefer a softer steel that is easier to keep sharp.

ALL I see are expensive super steel knives with hard steel, what is different there?? That is the norm and common.I would like to see one good use folder that deviates from the "norm".

I can't get all 3 in one it seems.
