Why are all the new m4 pm2's being sold?

If you looked closely on the Exchange, you'd see 2 types of sellers. First type was asking $225 - $250. Flippers.
There was also a bunch selling for the price paid.
City74 was one asking just what he paid. Bralexander, think that's right, was another. They both had an extra they sold for what they had into them.
Huge kudos to both!
Saw a couple on eBay asking over $400.

$400 that's funny.

I can personally vouch for City74 being excellent to do business with, for what it's worth.

because people unfortunately can't let others have a crack at those for a reasonable price... I'd have every pm2 sprint if it weren't for the whole instant 50% markup on half of them.

Which is precisely why people flip knives for crazy prices. I don't get the big mystery. Rabid fans want to get their hands on every possible variant of a knife, particularly if it is a small run. Those people are the demand. Demand raises prices. The entire small run STILL gets sold faster than donuts at a fat guy convention. And then the rabid fans complain about not being able to buy them, blaming the sellers.

I'ts not the sellers fault. It's the rabid fans fault.

$159.99 from dealer, most are selling for $200-220. That's a good profit.

Yep. Mr. Sal makes a profit. Maybe there is a distributor in the food chain who gets a cut. The vendor makes a profit. And the consumer makes a profit if he flips it. Then the consumer uses those proceeds to buy another Spyderco, and Mr. Sal makes more profit. Its the circle of life. And it is just how it should be, because with the profit motive, none of us would be able to buy a knife.

I'm in the apparent minority on this, but I have no problem whatsoever with someone putting in the time and effort stay in tune with the interweb, to buy a limited edition knife via their own effort, using their own capital, and then either EDC-ing that knife, throwing it in a lake or selling it for a profit. Its their knife, and not my knife, so its none of my business what they do with it. Many of those who complain about people selling for a profit on the secondary market are the same ones who are not willing to put in the time and effort to buy the knife directly from the vendor. They are just crybabies, because they want a sprint run toy - I mean Spyderco - but were not willing to put in the effort to make it happen. I say tough teabags.

I got the email about the Jade PM2 being available, but was on the road travelling and could not pull the trigger. Otherwise, I would have gotten one or two. But as to those guys who did get one, I'm not about make a moral proclamation about their decision to EDC them, throw them in the lake or flip them, because its none of my business what someone else does with a knife that they bought through their own effort and with their own money.

The truth has been spoken, and the people were amazed.

I bought one after getting caught up in all the hype. I'm a die-hard Spyderco fan but (I say this at the risk of being labelled an outcast) I've never liked the PM2 compression lock. I've owned a number of PM2s and I've never kept a single one. I sold my BHQ/M4 edition the same day I received it.

For the most part though, since BladeHQ allowed everyone to purchase three, I'm sure most collectors bought one to preserve, one to use, and one to sell.

I am with YOU on the dislike for the compression lock. I too love Spyderco knives, but I just do NOT like the compression lock.

Yep, only the flippers had a chance at this knife... it wasn't like they were available for 5 hours or so on bladeHQ's website. Or available in small quantities over the next couple of days. Don't worry though... not one person bats an eye for those "non-flipping" collectors that decide to sell their exclusive or sprint PM2s a year after they come out for $350.

Just seems like a lot of effort and time to make a few measly bucks. Just my opinion.

Strictly speaking from a numbers standpoint, getting $30 to $60 or even $80 profit for the few minutes effort of entering a credit card into one website, then snapping a couple pics with your phone and posting up to another website isn't too bad, I'd say. Your mileage may vary.

Hard any effort at all. I wound up flipping two. One for exactly what I paid, to someone I know, and one for a small premium, for my time. There was plenty of time to get one. Send yourself a calendar event if you need to. Just stop complaining about it like there was not ample time to buy one if you really wanted it. All these "no one left me one to buy" comments come across as nothing more than sour grapes. Exactly when did you try? How much effort did you actually put forth to buy one or more? I felt a little guilty when I bought mine, like they were going to sell out like a Taylor Swift concert. I kept checking and they were still available for hours. My guilt went away quite quickly. Go try to buy a SFO GEC and see how that goes, then come talk to me about this run.

why I'm not buying one. They'll be around later for the original purchase price or less. just sit back and watch.

Hey, unless I am buying and selling knives in my sleep(could happen!), you were thinking of someone else. I am one to catch and release a knife I thought I would really like but immediately do not. However in this case it wasn't me:)

The problem with this is that the flippers represent artificial demand: they have NO intention of being end-line users of the products, only another layer of the distribution chain which increases prices for the people who really WANT the knife. Yeah, I know, it's a free country and all....

Yuuup. This^^^
Other than this three thoughts on the subject.
1) Those that bought one to use and realized it was't their cup of tea so selling to recoup funds. The close to purchase price sellers.
2) Bought 2 to flip one thinking they could make a few bucks to offset cost. The $200 dollar club.
3) Flippin flippers. No more no less show me the money. You can do what ya want, free economy, be greedy but you dug the hole.
Of course those that are happy and keep what they have dont affect the 3 above.
Just an opinion. Cheers

I didn't try nor do I want one!!! Just wondering what all the flooding was about. Just seems kind of a lousy way to make a few bucks while making someone spend more on one than they needed to. Get a part time job if u need extra money. Nor was I complaining was just a question, and if u don't like my question then mind your own business!

This is one of the 1st limited knives ive seen that really flooded the exchange in the 1st 2-3 days after everyone got them, once the hardcore buyers have them, the price will drop a bit and so will profit.
