Why are people bashing my Skinny Ash?

Mora's are great for the money .... but if you are going into the wilderness and don't fancy carrying more than you need .... the fact you could have 30 Mora's to a Skinny Ash drops off because no-one will take that many multiple Mora's .... if you just take one or even two then the issue is what can a Mora do or not do which a Skinny Ash will do ....

Well, go to Brunei and go into the Jungle where "hardwoods" exist .... in a wet climate like that getting into the "heart" of such wood for dry tinder is neccessary .... baton such wood with a Mora .... and see how it fares .... do the same with a Skinny Ash .... with the Mora the plastic handle "gives" .... the blade can snap if hit "askew" but that is rare .... hit directly they can work .... IMO you don't hit perfectly over "time" all the time .... you certainly get more than $10 worth of use from a Mora .... but that's no good if the handle seperates when you really need it .... handle issues were the most common issue in my time there where I saw a number of these being used ....

You may not need to go to a Skinny Ash to have true "functionality" .... cheap local Parang's work well .... but ultimately how much you are prepared to pay for a knife is like asking what do you think your own life is worth ....

Perhaps for 90 % of people this sort of example is not relevant in terms of liklihood of happening .... but even then for the sake of a few hundred dollars .... those who encounter the 10% bracket of needing a knife with a lot of strength have made a great choice .... and those who have'nt come across that yet .... they at least have the right knife should they do so ....

Mora's are great for the money but I would'nt settle for one if I could afford better ....

Busse makes GREAT knives period! Some models, as with any knife from any maker are nicer than others (also consider personal preference). Your ASH is a very nice knife.

You can't please everybody. Start looking at the .45acp and 9mm debates. Big domestic V-8, small import. Crotch rocket I4, cruiser v-twin. Blonde, redhead, brunette. ;) Hard use knife or thin little mora / axe combo.

There are many ways to skin the feline (sorry, Jaxx) and no right or wrong way to go about it. Just many roads to a destination.

You selected a road that many of us on this subforum chose. Most of us, content with our decision, are happy to let others go their own way. Unfortunately, there are others who need to belittle your decision to justify their own path due to their self-doubt.

Make yourself happy and don't let the fatherless grind you down.

If it works for you, you made the right decision.
you a dark tower fan?

sorry to hear you're catching grief over wanting to use a skinny ASH in the woods.
I don't have one, but I do have an ESEE6, which is a great utility blade for me to take when I'm off into the woods.
Other than the steel, they're very similar in size, shape, profile - so I don't see a problem with using it as a camp/hiking/bushcraft blade, especially with a smaller companion blade like the zula or swamp warden.
I suspect price point is what many of the negative responses are sticking on. Leuku/Pukko combos, either large/small or medium/small combo's are VERY traditional in the scandi countries, so to me all you're doing is switching over to full tang blades in a premium steel -- it's still a traditional & functional bushcraft carry style.

One of these days I'll be able to afford some infi and then I'll have that addiction to go with my ESEE-tasy fix. :D

Buy what you like, use what feels right, and douse the haters with recycled whiskey. no regrets

I know the two that gave you grief.

I also know they are Very narrow minded.

Dont worry about the few naysayers, I see more positive responses than negative, that alone should speak to you.

Some great points here guys. I don't care what people think but care if j made the right choice. So far I feel like I have though I haven't been able to use it yet since it's been raining cats and dogs here on the east coast.
I went ahead and bought a Culti with mosaic pins to be the companion knife. Once it gets here I will be mailing both knives off to vet a Martin Swinkles sheath made. I'm going to have a piggy back sheath made with a pouch and fire steel loop. I think we may try and see how it will look and function to have the Culti sheath right behind the pouch so the loch and Culti can function on it's own too. The pouch should be able to fit either a magnesium, small stone or multi tool.

Mate great choices. Your knives will outlast and out perform everything the haters have (unless they secretly have Busse knives too, but I doubt it).

You won't be sorry. Beat that knife senseless, it'll just giggle at you and dare you to keep doing it. :)

NOBODY can tell you if you made the right choice, except for you.

Man, VERY few people like my personal choice of a primary woods blade, but it's perfect for me and that's all that matters.

If you like that Skinny ASH, then don't worry about whether anyone else likes it or not.

Oh, but you are required to show pics of the knives and sheath together. ;)

:D

The skinny will do all you want and more! If you love it as much as I do then you will be very happy with your choice. Who really cares what anyone but you thinks about YOUR knife anyway?!

One goes with me on almost every hike I go on. Don't mind the dates, new camera learning curve... :o

Makes short work of de-limbing a future fetching stick (after shortening a little bit of course).

They are excellent all around knives and the convex grind excels at splitting wood.

They are also pretty decent choppers despite their lighter weight (a bonus), especially if you use the shape of the back of the handle to hook your middle finger around to get more reach for chopping with the limpwrist technique!

Well I hate to sound like a prick here , but why would anyone defend such a puny, crappy little knife(plastic handles, stick tang, good greif) . I mean Im sure it makes really cool fuzz sticks and all , but a mora over a busse ? I sure as hell wouldnt be worried about what they think considering you could chop all of their knives into slivers and still go chop many oak branches to camo your ground blind with .........which I did just the other day. Note: I only chopped oak branches and did not chop many moras into slivers , however if you want your mora totally destroyed feel free to contact me for shipping arrangements.

I think its a great knife, and if I didn't already have a 4 inch fixed blade I would have bought one from a member who attended knob creek. I went ahead a purchased a Busse Bushwacker Mistress because I wanted a larger blade. I'm not into the thicker blades b/c I find Busse thinner blades lighter, more manueverable and performing the same as a larger knife.

Well If you must part with it .... I wil take the skinny ash off your hands .... for a small sum and it will make you feel all tingly inside.....

Well your mind just said HELLLLLL NOOOOOOOO and not on your life and maybe a few office words like " GO @$#% yourself... so your gut is telling you the opposite of what your head is fooling you to believe because of some person on the internet that has naver had to rely on any tool to possibly sustain or save their life.

I currently am building 3 ar15's. I have top quality parts on all of them... as a LEO one of them may save my life or a partners life.... would I get a cheap version of the parts ... no. So why should blades be any different
