Why are so many Sebenzas for sale on the form?

I had to put up a few of mine to offset the purchase of solo's raindrop regular that was one I've been after for over 3 years now!

Should be there Monday or maybe Tuesday :D

I hated to sell her, I really did... But I have a monster knocking on my shoulder to make knives! If I didn't need a large regular for a pattern I'd probably list my large 1996 BG-42

You scored the best Sebenza I'v ever owned, and being a little bias... The best Sebenza I'v ever seen. It's not too much, just enough IMHO. Hope you treat her well, I know you will :)

I have had a few sebenzas - and I traded or sold them all. Just as I did my SNG's. For me I see all the great YouTube reviews and get to thinking I need one. When I get it, I just look at it (it's hard to use a $400 knife). Then after a month of not using my EDC blade - I trade it or sell it. There great knives, but very expensive.
There is very significant hype factor for Sebensa and Stryder. For Sebensa it is getting weaker lately, for Stryder it is still quite strong.
This is neither good or bad - it is rather usual.
It is like regular product life cycle - up, peak, plato, decline. In the beginning some relatively small group of consumers risks trying new product, then the demand grows, product filling the market pipeline, than plato with relatively slable demand, then decline. In this particular case an interesting factor is that the product is relatively long-living compared to that cycle - so there will be some interesting dinamic with secondary market and re-sale prices. The secondary market prices will have to go down rather sooner than later...
CRK knows that this thing is happening - so they are much more interested in finding a new product...
As for individual rationale for selling - it does not matter much. Of course the main driver would be financial - as if there might be any other reason for selling the staff. Particularly tor the one which is not essential, rather status-driven one. ;)

There is a strange ebb and flow in some sales cycles. If you watch the sales area of BF it does tend to be somewhat tidal. Sometimes knives that are unavailable for months suddenly appear as if by magic for sale. I have noticed this recently with a number of makers/manufacturers.

I think it may also be attributed to groupthink. Someone sees an item that they own for sale at a good price and that sends them down the same road.......

There are probably no more than 20-30 CRK knives for sale recently, but the close time scale grouping of the threads makes it seem like there is a rash of sales.

You don't need to be a Nobel laureate to figure it out. Unemployment is up, wages are down, Sebs have continuing high demand and are high-value knives.

I didn't delete any posts. I moved 38 off-topic posts to their own thread in another forum.

Sorry got off topic with my original post. I have no idea why there are "so many" second hand Sebenzas for sale. Maybe because CRK has a 3-4 month back order for new ones and people don't want to wait? I do have to say that the James guy post made me lol. Thanks for the chuckle James###.

sage 2

i have a starbenza and i just order a sage 2. i prefer the hole over the thumbstud since it is ambidextrous. also i rather lose a $136 dollar knife then a $366 dollar knife.
