Why Busse?

Seriously, what is the big deal with Busse

They are so god d*mn over priced and sell so quickly. Those ppl are crazy~

Curiosity did not kill a cat, but sure shrink my wallet dramatically :D

I can't believe nobody has mentioned it yet...

Amy-0, Kendra, Skunk, and the rest of the crew, plus the warranty. A product is only as good as the folks that handle the customers.

I have been going to the INDY 1500 gun and knife show for years. I would always stop and look at the booth Mike has set up with Busse knives. I loved the way the knives looked and felt and finally bought one. Then the addiction began.:D

This is why I became interested in Busse Combat. Somehow I was drawn in. Everywhere I looked, there she was. Such amazing features.....

i was led to the site through a magazine ad. i was truly impressed with the design and the color/scale options. it was the time of the sfno. i didnt order yet, but couldnt help myself from visiting the main site.

then i discovered the bcs, and ordered my first, an mrsle, and that was the beginning of the end.

Great link Eric, I think i'll pic up a Busse knife:p
I had read some of the reports about how tough these knives were supposed to be. I didn't feel I needed another knife, but after reading this
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ry Busse rope cutting Blade Show&pagenumber=1

I took the plunge and bought one. I wished I would've listened the first time I heard about Busses performance. It would have saved me a lot of money buying other manufacturers knives.

I had pretty much decided what I felt would be my ideal hard use knife. Really tough non stainless steel. Micarta or g--10 slabs. Full tang (of course)
No real guard with an ergonomic handle. I saw the term infi and read up on it. I read what Cliff Stamp had to say. It became clear that Busse was a knife I had to try.
Well now I am an addict. I buy other knives and other steels but Busse stays on top of the list.
Q - Why do I have to buy knife after knife ie. Busse after Busse
A- Cause I can't help myself
Why do you?

that's what will keep me coming back for more in the future.

I read an article By Ron Hood, in American Survival Guide in the late 1990s.

Y2K was coming up and the idea of a knife that you could dig a hole with, then just strop or Steel back to a usable edge in seconds appealed to me.

Little did I know.

Yup, I remember that article as well as Ron hoods article. I spoke with Chris Janowski after he wrote that article and he said that he did much worse to that Busse SH than he stated in the article. He did not write it because he thought that people would think he was being paid to advertise, But he told me a lot of what he did with it and he had broken other quality blades doing the same with it. He was a very nice and honest guy through and through and did not want to stir crap so he kept the article tame.

What he told me and his article sold me on those knives.

Geez.........I think that was like one of my very first posts! That put a tear in my beer.:o

Like papathud I too read Ron Hood's article about the new Busse called the Battle Mistress. I called the shop and who picked up the phone but Jerry himself. He spent close to an hour on the phone with me and gave me a sales pitch I couldn't resist. I ordered a SHSH which was cut from a BM blank at the time. Should'a ordered both, but at the time I was strapped and still suffering from a move where I quit my job and packed my family up north to get out of the cities (cut my income in half!). Man I should'a bought the SHBM too! Live and learn.

I wanted to be more like BravadOink.

And I wanted to be more like ProGunner. :D

Seriously, it was the PEOPLE that attracted me. I happened on BF by chance and noticed the wildly enthusiastic Busse Crowd while poking around in the sub-forums. Maybe someday I'll explain how I happened to be on-line and searching for knives and steels at that particular time...

I've lived a very stress-filled life. Lots of angst -- some performance based, some just BS, and some d***** politics. Since 9/11, I've been surrounded by more and more stressed out, even freaked out, people. It was a pleasure to talk, even if remotely, to a group of people with a positive attitude who seemed to be enjoying their lives. That includes the crowd at BCK, BCS, SRKW, and SYKW -- since the apple never really falls far from the tree.

Oh. Once I finally bought a knife, I was pretty much blown away. But you ALL know how that goes.:)

I was very impressed with his role as the villain in "Lethal Weapon," and I thought, if Gary can make knives, I have just GOT to have one!

I'm pretty new to the Busse experience. I have only purchased a Swamp Rat Howling Rat LM and a BATAC (which I'm still awaiting) this year. But I've been hearing about and keeping an eye on Busse for years.

I got here through a number of other knives, mostly very good ones. I started with a Randall #14 in the Army, which cemented my interest in high quality knives. After the service my life changed and I mostly carried folding knives; first Emersons and then for the last five years Striders. I really like my Strider folders and bought a 5" fixed blade (the Mod 10). Then, I realized I need better large fixed blades (I'd gotten by in that department with Kabars and CS SRK), but I have become more and more skeptical of S30V as the steel for a hard use larger fixed blade. I knew Busse was probably the direction to go from all I'd heard and it was at that point that I stumbled across Bladeforums. This forum is what really convinced me -- here were the only group of people I'd found who were as enthusiastic about their brand as the Strider fans, and they were actually mostly Adults:D Wow.

I imagine I'll be around Busse a long time. I know Hogs aren't supposed to have regrets, but I do regret that I didn't come around to Busse sooner, so I wouldn't have missed out on knives like the SFNO and MR.

Chris Janowski ........... his article sold me on those knives.

Same here, was looking for the "if you could only have one" knife.

This was even after seeing them at shows all over in the early-mid 90's.

Wish now I'da sold a kidney to buy them out everytime...

Coulda retired by now...

I think someone pulled a Jedi mind trick on me. My first Busse should be on its way soon...I hope.

Seriously, I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I liked the looks of the Badger (current offering), liked what I read about INFI, and was drawn into the madness that all of HOGS and piglets, porksters (or whatever you call yourselves:D ) created.
