Why Busse?

I remember I was in a Waldenbooks looking at the gun and knife magazines and came across a new publication called Tacticle Knives. On the cover was a heavy duty looking black knife called a Steel Heart. I bought it took it home and read the article and aftewards thought to myself someday if ever won the lottery I would buy one. When Ron Hood came out with his early videos I got to see a SH and later a BM in action. From that time on theres never been anything else that I wanted as far as a hard use knife.
I bought Basic 9 in 2001 and a SH-E not long after that. I now own eight knives from Busse Combat and one from SR. If my wife knew how much I've spent on these knives she would divorce me. The only problem I've had is that I so highly prize them and they were so expensive that I haven't been able to bring myself to use them in the way they were meant to be used. However in the past month I've bought a CGFBM and a HOGFSH. I've stripped them both and have been seriously beating the crap out of them. Its Wonderful! I agree with others on this thread that you get what you pay for. In these days Terrorism and large disasters I believe it is prudent to prepared and to buy the best gear you can afford as you and your family's lives may depend on it. In the area of knives, Busses are at the top of the list for me.

After breaking three army issue K-bars and two bayonets...... I had to have something that would hold up to my abuse! After the last one broke I threw it down on the supply sargents desk and he told me he would go back and get another for me...... I told him to keep the crap knives that I was going to buy my own. At least now I know if my NO-E variant ever breaks, I probably won't need another knife:grumpy: . Since I am no longer in the military, the chances of that happening are pretty slim.(I hope)

Do you remember/know which of Hood's videos he uses these knives? I'd love to check that out.

'Cuz I gotta put my money somewhere! :D

Actually I bought my first (only) Busse because it was the only knife I have ever seen with the knuckle guards the way I want.

Also, everyone hyped up INFI.

Also, I have seen that Busses hold their value, so that is good.

As I remember he uses a Randall #1 in the first video. In the second and third video he used a SH and a BM in the fourth. In the fifth video He used a Simonich Nordooh. Unless you can get an early version of the videos I doubt that you will see much. For some reason Hood and Busse had a disagreement or something, I never knew the history. After that I read that Hood edited out anything about Busse knives. At the end of one them Hood did short endorsement of the SH and Busse combat. Kind of a shame they parted ways.

I started with an Assault Shaker. Spoke to Jerry himself. This must have been around 2001. It's been a slippery slope ever since. I think I came upon these forums around that time.

That's too bad I would have love to have seen him with those in action.

Bought a SHSHII I believe it was off of Jerry at a preparedness show here in '98 I think. Ordered the SHBM, SHBA and MS shortly there-after. I'd heard about them for a while but never could part with the $$. Took about 4 trips past the table before Jerry told me to just go ahead and get it because I was going to anyway so stop walking around pretending I was "just thinking about it". Been through about 20 since then. Lost the MS in my divorce a long time ago. Sure do miss that knife;)

I bought Busse because I think they are the best combat/survival type knives made. How many times in life can you afford to (or have access to) buy the very best of anything?
Not the cheapest, not the most expensive, THE BEST.

Now go getcha one if you don't have one (or more) already!

cliff, like the rest. I saw what he and Jerry did to their knives, and that unlike cold steel, they actually cover users if they replicate what they do in their testing. I wanted to see if they really lived up to their reputation.....

Shamefully, I haven't the nerve to try yet!

The knives are so much more expensive than any I've had before, I know about the warranty... but I'm still scared to beat on the knife like Cliff and Jerry and some members have.

Aaghh come on give it a shot! :D

I bought my first Busse as a left over "parts they assembled for me" after a extravaganza. It was a TAN SJTAK SS. I thought the knife was cool looking and I wanted some INFI and once Garth said he would assemble one from parts I could not say no. I latter got two GW's and have a TAN BATAK SS on order to match my first one. I also have two SY and Three SR. Sorry, my favorite is the HRLM, although I bought a RAT Mastiff that is perfect for WAY too much money that I am afraid to use. Actually I love my Lepricon also. I guess I like them all.

Because Andre told me to!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Oh & I had to have something to trade Bravado out of those Point Blank ceramic Plates that I carried around for 8 months :grumpy: :D

I didn't buy my first Busse, I traded a #14 Randall Made for a SH-E and a NO-E, never looked back from there. :D

I opened a few envelopes with an St-56 today. They were the thick kind that sometimes catches debris in the fold. Does that count?...

Scary stuff. I scored some rats in the latest ganza though, at under 150, I'll work my way up to beating the $400 busses. :D
