why carry a folder unless you work in a "professional" setting?

I carry it in waist band hideing the cli[p under my belt.

I am so sick of seeing pocket clips sticking out of pockets it looks stupid IMHO

Tactical folders are and always have been an Oxymoran if you are carrying a knife for self defence make it a fixed blade

lol ...everybody has an opinion. I've carried knives hidden in my waistband before too, but personally I think it looks kind of silly having to hike up your shirt and fumble around to get your knife out and put away again. IMHO ...Or better yet, having the visible outline of a knife turned sideways in the bottom of your pocket, making you look like your walking around with a boner or something. :p

I never thought of a pocket clip sticking out of a pocket as a fashion accessory, or a ploy for attension. It just makes sense from a practicality and convenience stand point.

I can honestly say that I've never had anyone look twice or say one single word about a visible pocket clip. But I have had the ocasional freak out by some goof when I've taken the knife out to use it.

I've learned to be more discrete when using my blade around others though by hiding as much of the blade and handle in my hand as I can. Also by using a slick and fluid one handed draw/use/close and put away method that usually has the knife back in my pocket before they realise it was there. :)

...As far as the "tactical" aspect of folder vs fixed, it comes down to the same issues of convenience, size, legallity, and social acceptability that have already been mentioned here.

You misunderstood my post I only carry a folder in waist band in dress clothes when it is hot out and I have no cover garment . Wearing a dress shirt and a tie and haveing your shirt untucked kinda looks silly and having a pocket clip hanging on my dress pants pocket wrecks a good pair of dress pants and does not look to professional. Think about it when is the last time you walked into your lawyers or doctors office or investors and saw a goofy pocket clip hanging out of his front pocket of his dress pants

If I am dressed casual and can untuck my shirt or it is cool enough to wear a cover garment I would never carry a folder it is always a fixed blade for me folders are my last option in a carry knife
