We've had a few regret selling threads here ad of late, but what do you regret owning whether now or in the past. Big list for me.

As a middle schooler and high schooler, all the cheap crap at the "ninja store" at North Pier mall. Throwing knives, small daggers, typical kid stuff that I (mostly) would never see after high school. Still have one very dull throwing knife left I found recently.

Everything tanto, and/or partially serrated. I still have my Sog mini x-ray vision, somewhere. Used it many years.

Including, but not limited to:

Sog Trident tanto tini
Sog flash partially serrated
CRKT M16-12Z tanto
CRKT K.I.S.S. tanto
Camillus lev-r-lok tanto

I own none of these, sold or lost more than ten years ago. Well the CRKT went in the garbage.

Anything assisted
ZT 0350TS partially serrated
Kershaw leek
Kershaw blur
Aforementioned Sogs.

Brous Bionic. I used the hell out of it, but it's battered, ugly, and embarrassingly inferior to Everything else I own. It's a loaner.

Flea market knives. Yes, terrible as it is to admit, I once bought a United cutlery "phoenix" knife at a flea market when I was in my early 20s. Among other crappy knives. Disappeared in one of my many moves, definitely don't miss it. The likelihood of a klingon breaking into my apartment and challenging me to a d'k tahg fight were very slim.

I'm thankful that the Brous and Sog are the only two remaining.

Civivi Cogent at Blade Show Texas. A $70 souvenir. I don’t support We/Civivi, don’t like flippers (except Malibu) and immediately felt like a sucker for buying 1 of 35. And because it was a great time with my kids, I know I won’t sell it. I don’t even slightly regret any other purchase.

What you trying to say there bud?.. Throwing shade at my Trident? 🤣

Seriously though, in the grand scheme none of these were great,.. well, except the Twitch II (not sure why I included it). That one was actually pretty good, got it for around $25 bucks at Lowe's like 10 years ago lol..

You don’t like my beloved Kershaw Zing? Best knife ever!

Well, the US made were decent knives, anyway. Can’t say that about the overseas production.
Those are pure garbage.

A perfect example of a company taking a great product and ruining it just to line their pockets.

blackjack anaconda bowie back in the 90's.
I was in my 20's, wanted an all round jungle carry knife, brush clearing, pig sticker and soon realised a 10" blade that thick was not great for any of those tasks. Sold it to a friend a few years later who liked bowies. Now its actually part of the list of knives I wish I hadnt sold. I dont collect knives but that was a nice looking blade..

The knife I regret buying the most is the Terrain 365 mini butterfly. I knew it was small, but was shocked at how small it was in reality. Utterly useless pos at +350€ in fancy terravantium steel, which I heard can not even be sharpened properly.

Thankfully, there aren't too many I actually regret buying. One counts primarily because the POS maker never delivered. (That story isn't appropriate to here, so I'll stop there.) The other was a Kershaw Cryo II (twice - shame on me). The first was so bad I thought it had to be a fluke, given all the fan praise...the second was only marginally better. Luckily that was an inexpensive lesson

I don't have so much as regrets, as to say ones that I definitely wouldn't buy again....

It's funny/sad.... Usually my most expensive knives have been the biggest disappointment.
I'd get banned from here for saying their names... lol

*I prefer to think about the hidden gems, the under dog's, the unsung hero's of our knife collections.
the underrated ones.

Those are My favorites!!!

Some Gil Hibben "fantasy knives" back in the '80s-'90s. What was I thinking? They're in storage now, but if I dig 'em up, I'll post 'em--maybe under another screen name. Also, a next-to-useless S&W "tactical" knife from the same period.

Probably my Ochs Worx Solarstorm, from the exchange, but still the most expensive knife in the drawer. It’s a beautiful knife, and therein lies the problem - it’s too pretty to use. I knew from the time I was looking for it that it would be a safe queen, but now that I’ve got it, I realize I don’t really need any safe queens, and that money would have been better spent elsewhere … or not at all. I’ll keep it to gift to someone before I kick the bucket, which was kind of always the plan anyway.

Close second is the Axial Shift. Also from the exchange, but luckily cost nowhere near as much as the Solarstorm. For a number of reasons I should just never have bought it. But sometimes you don’t know it’s the wrong move until after you’ve made it.

The only one I regret was a Swiss Army clone from the back of Boys Life Magazine.

I had to have my Mom right a check and mail order it. $8.50 as I recall.

I checked the mailbox everyday for what seemed like months.

It was a total let down nail breaker blades. Carbon steel that rusted instantly and became impossible to open.

One of life’s learning experiences. One of those end of innocence experiences. Not everything is what it appears to be.

Since then it has been only good quality stuff, knives tools guns etc. Not necessarily high end, but the sweet spot were you get quality without being extravagant.

I'll throw mine in, I suppose.

A Brous Vendetta is probably my worst and most embarrassing knife-related purchase that I can remember. It looked cool and had an astonishingly stiff detent that made it open like a firecracker. That's about all the good I can say, though.

It was overpriced (even "on sale" from Brous), was seriously lacking in quality, and was completely impractical for cutting with or holding in one's hand. There was even a significant blemish in one of the G10 scales where it looked like whoever made it had bonded two pieces of G10 together into a single sheet. I felt like I had to make apologies for it every time I carried it. I sold it at a significant loss and focused on more reputable brands.

I still laugh a bit every time I see a Brous listed for sale because I know they don't really have any resale value.
