Why didn't you guys tell me?!

Seems like everyone is saying that the angle grinder will kick harder and explode faster than the rest of that stuff though, which does make sense.
Except it doesn't. But I only started using 4-9" angle grinders about 27 years ago with braided wire, wire cups, cut off discs, grinding discs, combo discs, sanding pads, and flappers. Much more complicated and uncomfortable metal removal gets done with angle grinders on work sites than working on barstock in a vice while in a well lit shop. Every tool should be utilized with proper PPE and concentration, grinders are not purpose built grenades that no one can ever handle safely.

I like to think I use 100% concentration, but when I use my hand held grinder, buffer or welding anywhere near a gas tank, I step it up a couple notches.

I have made a couple of swords and used my angle grinder to rough out the bevels.I used my straight die grinder to grind the fullers.I have five angle grinders each with a different wheel so I dont have to change them all the time.I cant imagine being without my grinders. That said, yes they are dangerous. The worst problem is virbation or "chatter".If the workpiece is not held ridgidly or if the wheel binds in the cut you can literally see the grinding wheel lose diameter and degrade right before your eyes.Once a grinding wheel develops an imbalance due to a nick or broken edge its time to chuck it ,even if you just put it on there .It WILL explode! Also be extremely careful if using a wire brush wheel, the wires come flying right at your face!
