Why do I need a battle axe?

If you have to ask then you need to go on the "my little pony forums" IT`S A SWEET A$$ BATTLE AXE!!!!!!! YOU DON`T WANT IT .....YOU NEED IT MAN!!!!!! No but really you don`t need to own two knives at any one time but tell that to anyone on here.

i wish they'd hurry up and get those out.

that's gonna be a goodie.

I have to admit, I bought a CS battle axe back about ten years ago and the head was so horribly warped that I didn't buy anything made by Cold Steel until I bought my War Hammer last summer. I'm serious; it was that bad. Their QC guy had to have been sniffing glue for several hours if that thing looked good to him. It was a major bummer.

Now my War Hammer on the other hand... perfect. I love it. Sometimes I go out and bash stuff with it for no other reason than the LOLz. The 30" handle IMO is just right. That's what inspired me to get one of the longer handles for use with the Spike Hawk... which better not be warped or I will not be happy.

The battle axe I have in mind is when the new CS Spike Hawk comes out and I re-haft it with a proper 30" handle.

Got one of them and a pipe hawk on order.

When I emailed them, they said they'd ship in mid May, but someone else emailed them more recently, and now they are saying mid to late June. :grumpy:

And I just got FOUR of the 30" replacement handles in yesterday. :D

Because it is a verwy scarwey implement which helps others conceptualize "leave me alone" rather well!

This thread is sweet. I think I want a battle axe too.
They should pass into law requiring every man to have
at least one battle axe.

Cpl P. Sounds like you're trying to justify your purchasing a battle axe. Got the $, go for it. Then let us know how you like it.

Well, it came in the mail today.

If you look at Absilits' review, it exactly the same. Same box, wrapping and everything.

I have mixed feelings right now.
The edge has a nice polish, but definitely isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. While I have no doubt that in swinging this as-is at a person, you're going to really mess them up. But on wood, even slicing food, it's next to useless. Nothing that some reprofiling and sharpening can't fix.

I was hoping it'd be drop forged, but it's obvious it's cast.

It did come with a good layer of rust that's even enough that I'll assuming is meant to be antiquing.

The haft? Eh, not too special. I have a bundle of 30" Colt steel hickory hawk handles. If I shave the sides down a bit, it looks like it'd work great.

But these are all first impressions and may well change, one way or the other, with use.

i am currently reading Bernard Cornwells Saxon Chronicles ....

I like the first couple in that series but it goes downhill after that.

Have you read his Arthur series that begins with Winter King? Its excellent and more importantly.... there are axes.

I asked myself the same question before buying my warhammer. But now, when I look at it and get that warm, fuzzy feeling - I'm gonna need a battle axe soon!

I think it's something deeply ingrained in us. I have a few hawks and battle axes and can't seem to get enough.
