Recon 1 folders were never made with Carbon V. They were always AUS8, from the original models made in Japan to the current 2010 models.

No, you are WRONG.
I owned one in Carbon V, black blade.
I know what I "had".
If you do not know the full history, that is ok, but it's not cool to say things you do not know, it makes you look foolish

Maybe the guy made a mistake give him a break.

Why dont you prove you had a Carbon V one?

He didn't make a "mistake", he made a statement, he knew what he said...

Why don't you "prove" I didn't have one and they were never made since you two brought it up?

I didnt bring that up just saying no need to be so rude, the mistake could have been a typo or something on his part.

Hey guess what smart guy??

I just called CS and asked. Know what they said??

They NEVER made a recon 1 folder in carbon v, only the recon tanto.

Looks like you are wrong.

Because someone that answers the phone at CS does not know every knife and steel combo they made does not "prove" anything.

Actually, that is the point I was making earlier, they change steel and other features on the same knife so much, you never know what you will get unless you buy one face to face.
I would have NEVER bought a Recon-1 with AUS8, I do not care for it.
I carried the Recon-1 Carbon-V as an EDC for about a year before selling it, so yeah, I know what I had, no mistake.

I've never heard of a Carbon V Recon 1 either, maybe it was a one-off? You should have kept that one man!

Ya know..., I have been searching the internet to find another one and so far, have not.
You are right, I should have kept it.
At the time I thought I could get another one any time.
It sucks I sold it now...,
But, I do have 2 SOG Night Vision "Plain Edge" knives.
Most never heard of those either, not "Never heard of SOG Night Vision", but never heard or saw one with a plain edge.
Only 6 were made.
I have 2 (new of course), a secretary at SOG (at the time) had one she carried in her purse, the other 3, I never found. Should be worth "something" :)
Of all the CS knives I have had and sold, I have to sell the one that is super rare:grumpy:

The guy seemed to know his stuff but I will say he maybe doesnt know
all the combos. I tried searching too but couldnt find anything. Im trying to
play nice so Ill give you the benefit of the doubt, looks like you should have kept it

Now I understand the old refrain of "pics or it never happened."
I'm going to go with "it never happened."

So, a "pic is proof"? Incredible!! I do understand it though, that is a lot of the reason the country is in the shape it is in and getting worse, people believe whatever they want to, whatever is easy and sounds good.

OK, how is this..., I never even owned a Recon-1. I have nothing to prove to someone I know, much less to someone I do not know.
Like I have always stated, even though most times not popular-
"I am NOT responsible for what you "believe", I am only responsible for what I have said".
There ya go, we can all "believe" what we want to, right or wrong and no effect at all:)

How about getting back to the subject and you can pm or email if you prefer, no need junking up the forum with such nonsense...

There aren't any Carbon V Recon 1's. ;)

The 1st ones were made in Japan using AUS-8, I know because I have one of the early ones.

The Later ones were all made in Taiwan using AUS-8A.

They were never made in the USA.

Yep, the problem with America is Canadians not believing you without evidence of some sort.
You nailed it!

That's what I thought, is that you meant to say "Recon Scout" or "Recon Tanto." Ya know what? I never miss CS offerings in print or online and I never heard of one either. I'll believe you had one though, it doesn't cost me a dime. If you had a "one of a kind" then you'd know it. Did it have it stamped on the blade or box? Just saying...cuz you might have possibly remembered wrong? :)

Those pesky Canadians again! :D
