You would think but Ive seen it, in other forums and on youtube.
Check it out

I have timed videos out there on YT also and they aren't even on the same planet. ;)

Now it will outchop the Busse BWM though. ;)

That was an opium dream, it never actually happened. ;)

The FFBM is a brutish knife, way heavier than the Trailmaster. On pure weight alone it will outchop it.

I got one in a trade, I like it, the SRK in carbon V, reminds me a bit of my old U.S.M.C. KA-BAR. Feels good in the hand and does what a knife needs to do. I have one of there machetes that I'm not impressed with, my Tamontina is much more to my liking.

Huh?

It can't happen believe me, there ain't no way a Trailmaster is going to outchop a Busse FFBM. ;)

I own both and done the tests I can tell you that it won't happen, ever.

I had a ColdSteel Trailmaster in Carbon V. I loved that knife. I used it in The Northwest Territories, the nahanni, Temagemi in Ontario and elsewhere. Damn thing almost crippled me on the first trip until I wrapped the handle, but it was a good chopper. It still is. It's in semi retirement now because it isn't in the same league ( as a chopper) for either my Busse BattleMistress and even the Steelheart II ( both original straighthandles). I don't denigrate the CS because I'm a Busse fan. I because a Busse fan because, for me, in my entirely subjective real world experience, it is not close.
Now, if I had to use one or the other as a fighter, the CS Trailmaster is, again, in my hands and for me, much superior: fast, balanced, wicked penetration and, to be blunt, it is a great looking knife!
But it won't outchop a big Busse.

You said FFBM not CGFBM...... two different knives. ;)

You got me their! But I would probley know the difference if damn Busse
put up their models and specs on their damn wedsite!

That and everyone knows a big ass thick blade will not go through wood all that easy no matter what steel it is.

I would love one of their machetes! I think machetes are a special thing that some do much better than others.

I have had 4 of them over the years myself, still have 2 now. :)

They are good knives.

Busse and Cold Steel, really, that's what it's come down to...

I put a vote in for Scrapyard then, good prices, great knives, this thread is going down a well traveled road.

All I can add to Planterz post is that, blade steel is alot like a high post count, it only makes things better in theory. I would take Aus8a in the field over S30v any day, because I can't sharpen that steel to save my life.

I hear you. :)

I wouldn't have it in the field either.

CS vers Busse isn't very realistic really.

Its a common mistake. Took me a while to learn the difference. The Combat Grade has the corrugated sides, the FFBM is flat sided. Its an awesome piece of steel BUT its way too heavy to be practical if you plan on walking anywhere with it, other than to and from the truck.

In that respect the TM is a more practical knife. You can strap it on and hike with it. Better on your pack than your belt IMO but its entirely feasible either way. And it will rock and roll with the best of them for whatever you ask of it. If you want to compare apples with apples, then the ScrapYard Dogfather is really the one to put up against the TM.

Following up on that:

You know, the vast majority of us here are "knife knuts".
We love knives.
I love my wrist breaking hand rubbing Trailmaster and it wears my handle wrap
like a badge of pride.
I love my Busses too, but that doesn't make me turn up my nose at my old Carbon V.
Knife knuts aren't like that at all, i think.

Although there have been one or two bad knives that I would gladly consign to hell, a good knife is nothing to sniff at, and i don't know many real knife fans that do.

I would prefer CPM154/RWL34 over AUS8, but Cold Steel doesn't use those.

That would be a given there, but then CPM 154 is one of those steels that is just that good.

It's really a shame we don't see much of it outside custom knives, at 61 ~ 62 RC it really shines. :D

Yes it's a classic for sure. :)
