Why do people like the CS Spartan?

I like the Spartan for the reasons listed above, but it never gets any pocket time because of it's weight. 7.5 ounces is just too heavy a folding knife for me to lug around. Heck of a thing to show off to non-knife friends though. :)

I got a CS Spartan coming, I like big folders some others I have are. CRKT Hammond Cruiser Desert and Kershaw Junk Yard Dog Composite.

I have read several posts with people refering to "I can wave this knife" or something similar. Sorry for being out of touch, but what is the ability to wave a knife?

I pulled this from an other thread. Compares to the 7.35oz of a 110buck

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/871223-Is-the-317-the-heaviest-Buck-folder

The 317 is lighter than the 110. I weighed a Kalinga Pro, Folding Alpha Hunter, a 110 and the 317. The 317 is the lightest of them all and not bad considering it has two blades.

Kalinga-------------7.17 oz
Alpha--------------7.57 oz
110----------------7.35 oz
317----------------7.05 0z

Except the Spartan comes in closer to 10oz. then the advertised 7.5oz

When I first saw the Spartan I wanted one just base on looks (it's ridiculously awesome:D), but I doubt it'd see much pocket time due to its bulk (weight doesn't bother me really but size does), so I went with the Rajah III, still might pick one up though at some point:thumbup:

I never weighed it. Thanks for the update.

I haven't bought Cold Steel for years. With this and other new stuff they've got, I may have to start up again. I've been mostly on Kershaw.

@ Charlie Mike, I really like the way you modded that Spartan. I may have to steal that idea from ya if ya don't mind?

I has another one on the way

why do I like the spartan?? Women find me irresistible when I carry it

I bought mine purely for entertainment purposes (hey there is a kid deep down inside all of us right) and to date it is the only folder I have managed to hack down a small tree with I really enjoy mine the lock up is amazing and the wave is very useful all in all I'd say it's a decent purchase for the not so uptight knife enthusiest and would make a decent EDC choice for someone who needs a larger sturdy blade in a somewhat compact package.
