Why do people only like one knife maker

As a new member with Only 10 posts there must be a better way to make

friends and influence people than swearing at the 1st. poster.

I like knives from several manufactures. A lot has to do with quality and f/f.

Some manf. build excellent knives. These are the ones I usually buy.

I don't think people generally only like one knife maker. I know for me, I love Mayo knives, Hinderers, Cook, Galyean (and more). They're all fantastic, and I know a ton of people on here who love multiple makers.

I obviously can't speak for anyone else, but I think we all tend to have one or two makers that we prize above all others.

Why? I think there are a number of factors that influence us, and those factor are perfectly valid. They might include overall design, steel, price, workmanship, reputation, the influence of hype, what we're used to, etc..

I know that, for me, there are a number of factors that enter into it. I'm an old guy, and I've been through a lot of knives in my time; some I've liked, some I've loved, and others that, well, I didn't love so much.

There are companies whose knives I would buy again and again, because they work for me and, more importantly, because I like the way they do business. There are also companies whose knives I would not buy — even though they may have some designs that I like — simply because I don't like the way they do business.

Like many others, I've pretty much settled on just a couple of companies that I like — for a number of reasons — and I'm content with my choices, at the moment. For fixed blade knives, I like Becker/KA-BAR, ESEE and KA-BAR. Folders are a different story, since I'm not really a folder person, but I do like Victorinox, KA-BAR, Buck, and I'm looking at a couple of others.

I wish I had the money to try a lot of different manufacturers knives, but I don't. I'm happy with the choices that I've made, though, and that's what counts to me.

I think it would be personal preferences and not everyone thinks the same or likes the same things.

Personally I like a lot of different knives and brands.

fuck you i dont care about how i typed because im just trying to ask a question so if you dont have an somthing to say about the topic then just dont

There was a question in there? No kidding. I only found a false premise -- though it may have a different syllogistic mistake at its core, as it was difficult impossible to comprehend.

...
I think having $20,000 collection of busse knifes your never going to use is dumb...

I realize that was purely subjective statement, and by it you expressed your opinion and didn't call anyone dumb.

But whats wrong with having $20k+ collection that is never going to get used? I mean most people who have collections like that also have about $2k+ in Busse or Busse kin, that they use hard.

Personally I think everyone has a favorite brand or two. Companies aim for different image, different uses, etc. Then some try to have trade mark shape which will not work for all. I have gone through the ZT, Spyderco, BM, Emerson, Kershaw, and I'm still looking. I'm to poor to buy a CRK, Strider, Hinderer but I'm sure one will be in my pocket one day.

I haven't found a single folding knife which would be everything I'm looking for, and I feel everything in sub $150 folding knife market is a compromise of some sort. Then again maybe it is and quality/ergoes start art $200.

But If I find a knife that fits well, after having tried all I did, I will most likely stick to that maker.

As I did with fixed blades, Busse offers everything I want it to, and I buy my users direct so they are priced equivalent to other high end productions, like strider, ER, Mercworx, CRK. And when purchased directly are often even cheaper then high end folding knifes.

For me, when I first started collecting, I was all about Kershaw. I felt they had the best value and there were so many models to choose from I didn't need anything else. Now, however, I am definitely branching out. I don't like every knife from any manufacturer, but I like at least one knife from every manufacturer and I buy the knives I like:D

I'm not sure there are people on this Forum that only like 1 brand. They may have a favorite or 3, but I doubt that someone who's been into knives for awhile, will only own 1 brand. Of course, someone will probably post that they only have 1 particular brand (My luck), but if that happens, I think that's an exception, not the rule.

Now, as to the OP. Welcome to BFs & it would help you greatly if you type better. A thicker skin wouldn't hurt, either.

+1 Ditto on that my friend.

i think its stupid that a person can like only one knife maker because there are many thing that others can offer that you favorite many not so i want to know why people think that one maker is better than the other(im talking about the big makers like SOG, KABAR, Cold steel, etc) i mean when it comes down to it we all like knives so what im trying to say look at knives outside of you favorites some of many favorite knive are from a maker that isnt my favorite maker

f**k you i dont care about how i typed because im just trying to ask a question so if you dont have an somthing to say about the topic then just dont

Wow. I thought you had to be at least 13 to join the forum.

What they said.

I don't have any close acquaintances here who only like the products of one manufacturer.

Proper use of grammar would also help, even though I realize they don't teach it in jr high anymore.

In my particular case.... Benchmade has the axis lock, ambidextrous is great for us lefties.

The AXIS lock is what makes Benchmade the knives for me. I have tried probably hundreds of different knives and I haven't found any that I like more than the average production Benchmade AXIS lock.

Bottom line, I buy what I like.

The point of my post was to say "just because I don't like or agree with someones decisions doesn't invalidate how they feel or how others feel."

To each his own, thats what I was getting at

I think that it's rather short sighted that a person would be blindly loyal to only one production company. There are many innovations/options that other companies can offer that your favorite may not. I'd like to know why people think that one company is better than another. I'm not talking about custom makers, but rather larger companies like SOG, KABAR, and Cold Steel. In my opinion, when it comes down to it, we all like knives so why not check out different brands and not just be blindly loyal to one brand? I do have a favorite company, but some of my favorite knives aren't necessarily from that company.

I think it was supposed to read something like that. :D

some of us have brand loyalty. and in the end they all do the same thing anyways. the kershaw line has every kind of blade/steel/style that i could possibly need, so i'm quite content with the kershaw/kai brand.

Well if some of the people on here would focus on the reason this forum exists and not on punctuation and grammar then people wouldn't get pissed wen they ask a ? and some jackass insults them because they feel inadequate in whatever way who Know's but it really shows who the "13" year old's are yes English is a second language to some and some are just uneducated but that's no reason to act like some punk ass bullie that needs to get slapped so if u don't have anything to contribute then keep your damn mouth shut now on to the op I don't think it's stupid to like just one maker like others have stated if one maker keeps u satisfied then y go anywhere else but for me I will buy from any reputable maker if they make something I like very simple

Sometimes it's just really hard to read something like this when it doesn't use any punctuation or capitalization. Normally when I start to read something like this and it just all runs together, I automatically think "this person is uneducated and I really couldn't care less what they think". If you're going to take the time to put a thought out there for the world to read you may as well give the appearance that you care about what you are saying and that you have at least a fifth grade education.
