Why do you buy knifes ?

I've always liked them, always seem to have a need for one. I keep buying knives for different materials and styles. I am a machinist by trade. Sharp metal objects make me happy.
 
I buy knives for a whole lot of reasons
Sometimes its because I see people trashing a knife and when I look it up it seems better than the rap its given

Sometimes I buy a knife because people are talking up what looks like just another lump of stainless .. yeah Ill learn eventually ..

sometimes Ill buy a knife because I am having an " I dont believe they are selling that crap " ( something akin to how the HELL did that make it into production ) moment and i buy it to see if it is as bad as it looks

Sometimes Ill buy a knife because I dont have one for a set purpose .. for example , I want to give one of my girls a knife .. I dont have one to hand so Ill go buy her a girly opinel 8 in stainless , or a pink izulla or maybe my bro and I are short on funds so we are putting together survival kits and selling them at a auction site .. I dont have a stock of knives on hand anymore that I am not using so yeah gotto go buy .

Sometimes Ill buy a knife because I have a special event coming up and I have been too lazy to make one , a mates wedding , a going away present whatever

Sometimes Ill buy a knife because I really want to try it out to learn why a certain feature is there in its build .

Mostly tho I buy knives because I like knives , I like cutting things , I like making knives stupidly sharp .. it makes me feel good .
 
I have always heard that when we die ~~ the one with the most "Toys" wins.!** And I do love thee Toys.* LOL
 
I spent a lot of time outdoors with my Dad as a kid and he gave me my first knife (an old Swiss army knife I still use to this day). He collected knives and guns himself and after he passed a few years ago knife collecting became a fun way to keep him on my mind.
